Project goals:

• Enhance the collaboration between LU and partner universities
• Enhance exchange between academic staff of LU and partner universities, which  is considered beneficial for raising academic personal excellence in terms of life-long learning and exchange of experience
• Ensures tight involvement of students in mobility schemes, as this contributes to the students' cross-border study experience, personal growth and prospective involvement in research activities

Noslēdzies Latvijas - Norvēģijas mobilitātes projekts

Ar Norvēģijas finanšu instrumenta līdzfinansējumu un valsts budžeta finansējumu, Latvijas Universitātes Ģeogrāfijas un Zemes zinātņu fakultāte (ĢZZF) īstenojusi projektu „Intelektuālā kapitāla starp ģeogrāfiem Latvijā un Norvēģijā stiprināšana un pārnese” (projekta nr. EEZ/NFI/S/2015/009), kura mērķis bija stiprināt sadarbību starp Norvēģijas un Latvijas ģeogrāfijas pētniekiem un studentiem.

Projekta galvenais uzdevums bija sekmēt sadarbību starp Latvijas un partneraugstkolu studiju virzieniem Norvēģijā. Laikā no 20.07.2015 līdz 30.03.2017 akadēmiskais personāls no Latvijas un Norvēģijas augstskolām devās 9 mobilitātes braucienos, sekmējot akadēmiskā personāla izcilību caur mūžizglītību un pieredzes apmaiņu. 6 LU ģeogrāfijas maģistranti un doktoranti papildināja savas zināšanas, kā arī devās praksē uz Bergenas un Trumses augstskolām. Projekta aktivitātes uz Latviju atveda arī pasaulē atzinību guvušo Bergenas Universitātes profesoru un mācību grāmatas “Geography: History and Concepts” autoru -  Arildu Holtu-Jensenu (Arild Holt-Jensen), kura vieslekcijas bija pieejams ne vien ĢZZF studentiem un akadēmiskajam personālam, bet arī ikvienam interesentam.  

Kā atzīmē ĢZZF dekāne prof. Zaiga Krišjāne: „ Internacionalizācija ir viena no šī brīža akadēmiskās vides prasībām. Tas nozīmē, ka mūsu pētnieku un studentu iesaistīšanās starptautiskajās programmās un pētījumos ir vitāli svarīga. Latvijas – Norvēģijas mobilitātes projektā iespējas piedalīties bija ne vien personālam, bet arī ģeogrāfijas maģistra un doktorantūras studentiem. Dodoties studiju apmaiņas braucienos, uz Norvēģijas universitātēm Bergenā un Trumsē, studenti un zinātnieki mājās ir pārveduši starpvalstu pētniecības pieredzi un papildinājuši savas zināšanas, kuras noderēs turpmākajai pilnveidei. Ļoti ceram un sagaidām, ka šī pieredze veicinās arī turpmāku studentu iesaisti pētnieciskajās aktivitātēs ne vien Latvijā, bet arī ārvalstīs”.

The Latvian – Norwegian mobility Project has successfully Concluded

The Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences (University of Latvia) took part in an international project “Strengthening and transferring the intellectual capital among geographers in Latvia and Norway” (project no. EEZ/NFI/S/2015/009) with the main aim to strengthen a collaboration between Norwegian and Latvian researchers and geography students. The project was co-funded by Norwegian finance instrument and the state budget of Latvia.

The main task of project was to enhance a collaboration between the University of Latvia and partner universities. In period from 20 July, 2015 to 30 March, 2017, 9 mobility visits of academic personnel from the universities of Latvia and Norway take place, thus encouraging the raising academic personnel excellence in terms of long-life learning and exchange of experience. Furthermore, 6 students from Masters and PhD programmes in geography from the University of Latvia participated in the study mobility and internship to the universities of Bergen and Tromsø. Such activities were essential in contribution to the students' cross-border study experience, personal growth and prospective involvement in research activities.

The activities of project included the visit of professor Arild Holt-Jensen from the University of Bergen –who is also known as an author of scientific book “Geography: History and Concepts”. His guest lectures were held at the University of Latvia and the Riga Technical University and gathered wide range of participants and the lecture was enjoyable for students from different study levels, academic personnel and everyone interested.

The professor Zaiga Krišjāne (Dean of Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences) stated: “Internationalization can be considered as one of the highest demands of the contemporary academical environment. Such situation makes the involvement in international research programmes and projects for our researchers and students as a vitally important necessity. Not only representatives of academic personnel but also students of Masters and PhD programmes had the possibility to participate in the project. By going to the Universities of Norway in order to study, students have brought home a very important international study experience and have improved their knowledge. These qualities will be useful for them in future to acquire scientific Master and Doctoral degrees in geography. We hope and expect that such experience will promote the further involvement of students in research activities not only in Latvia but also across the border.”
