UL students perform well at the Regional Rounds of the Price Media Moot

In December 2018 the Price Media Law Moot Court Competition team of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia (UL) travelled to Kiev, Ukraine to participate in the competition’s North-East European regional rounds, returning home with the prize for Best Memorials and a ticket to the final rounds in Oxford in April 2019. The members of this year’s team are bachelor level students from the UL Faculty of Law: Anna Patrīcija Mālere, Gunvaldis Leitens, Ieva Šņepste and Maira Pužule, coached by associate professor Artūrs Kučs and a member of last year’s team – Emīls Jonins.This year’s Competition Case concerns the widely debated and growing problem of fake news and hate speech online. University of Latvia trains Ukrainian and Moldovan students in EU policy and leadership

In September, 287 students from five Ukrainian and three Moldovan universities began a three-month lifelong learning program at the University of Latvia (UL) on the European Union’s internal and foreign policies. The program is implemented by UL Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FESS) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. “The aim of the program is to support Ukraine in its efforts towards European integration, promote democratization processes, and prepare students for work in Ukrainian public administration institutions. During the program, students will gain knowledge about public administration reforms, democratization, europeanization, and the functioning principles and values of the European Union,” explains professor Iveta Reinholde from the UL FESS Political Science Department . International Conference for Students of Social Sciences is Over

Three- day- long International Student Conference „ National Identity: Time, Place, People” ended on March, 17. The students of different academic levels (Bachelor, Master and Doctoral) and different social sciences (sociology, political sciences, philosophy, anthropology, linguistics, semiotics, public relations, economics) were brought together. They were representatives from ten countries-Ghana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Latvia, Mexico, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine. All in all, 39 presentations were delivered by 41 students. Many-sided perspectives on identity issues, including migration and religion, were offered. The speakers also addressed the questions of people’s voluntary or compulsary engagement in political and social activities, as well as referred to past cultural events which today enjoy their own renaissance. Admission for international students is open at the University of Latvia

University of Latvia invites prospective international students to submit applications for studies at the University of Latvia. For academic year 2025/2026 there are 14 bachelor level, 17 master and 14 doctoral level study programmes available. Currently there are more than 1000 foreign students studying at University of Latvia. To complete admission successfully, one has to pay attention to  application deadlines,  which can vary depending on the country of residence. Full list of  study programme offer  with admission requirements and all other relevant information. For  bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study programmes,  the citizens of non-EU/EEA countries and citizens of visa-free countries must apply until 18.06.2025, however, if you are an EU and EEA citizen, your application must be submitted until 21.07.2025.
