Latvijas Universitātes students Kalvis Kazaks starptautiskajā regatē Klaipēdā izcīna 2. vietu

Sestdien, 13. oktobrī, Klaipēdā norisinājās starptautiskās regates “Danes regate” sacensības 3 km distancē, kurās piedalījās arī Latvijas Universitātes 3. kursa students Kalvis Kazaks. Sacensībās piedalījās vairāk nekā 200 dalībnieku, kuri pārstāvēja tādas valstis kā Latviju, Lietuvu, Igauniju, Krieviju un citas. Vieglsvaru vieninieku klasē piedalījās Latvijas Universitātes BVEF students Kalvis Kazaks un ar uzrādīto laiku 11:55,94 izcīnīja otro vietu, piekāpjoties vienīgi savam komandas biedram Ģirtam Sokolovam .

Enthusiasts, engineers, software developers, entrepreneurs, designers with hardware ideas, or desire to contribute to the high-technology development are invited to join "Student Deep Science Hackathon", which will take place on October 20-22 at the House of Nature, University of Latvia (Jelgavas Street 1, Riga). The event will be a three-day workshop for the creation and development of new innovative ideas for students and high school students who want to form interdisciplinary teams with innovation potential with an emphasis on interesting ideas in the fields of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics). At the end of the event teams will present the commercialization plan to the jury, scientists, investors, and others. The agreement signed by the University of Latvia (LU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to grant 30 million euro loan for construction of the Academic Centre will enable students to fully realize their potential and help them achieve excellence, asserts Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis. "Today, investing in new premises and facilities that will enable our students to fully realize their potential, we invest in our future economic growth. Doctoral students are invited to international doctoral school for soft skills improvement

In order to provide doctoral students with soft skills for success in research, academic and scientific innovation, the Erasmus+ project MODEST invites to participate in an international doctoral school. The training will be organised in three sessions, which will be based on the courses developed within the MODEST project. The first doctoral school will take place from 14 to 16 March and include the following topics: Academic Writing for Research Publication Purposes Modern Approaches towards Creating Successful Presentations for Scientific Reports Modern Methodology of Scientific Research Scientific Ethics, Intellectual Property Projects' Preparation and Management Internationalisation of Research The doctoral school will take place in three sessions (each session will have different topics): 14.03–16.03 (lectures); homework as remote work in groups with remote consultations (approximately 2 weeks); 28.03 – students' final presentations; 11

Three students of the European Studies Master Programs awarded from the Economic Development Forum of Latvia

Nena Markovic, Raimonds Kokarevics and Javier Mendoza, students of the second year of the European Studies Master Program were awarded with a Certificate of honor for significant contribution to developing of scientific research paper „Living in Latvia” for the Latvian Economic Development Forum research paper competition that was issued by the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Latvia on the ceremony hold the past 9th of November. The research paper explores the satisfaction and motivation of the international students that come to Latvia in order to make an exchange. In addition, it makes a comparison with the answers of the local students to extract conclusions and address recommendation to the higher education institutions. The paper was supervised by the Prof.Dr.Mihails Hazans of the University of Latvia that was also present on the act.
