Digital Transformation Lab Sustainability Meeting on 29 September

The Digital Transformation Lab coordinated by University of Valencia is holding the Sustainability Meeting next 29th of September from 9:30 to 14:00 CET via TEAMS. It is aimed at Digital Transformation Lab members and contributors. We are happy to have the presence of the two new Alliance parters, University of Agder, Norway, and University Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Romania, at the discussion and to receive their proposals. The meeting will mainly consist of the creation of a space where everyone will be able to present their ideas and proposals for discussion and elaboration of a sustainable future plan for the Lab. The University of Latvia invites to submit abstracts for the International Scientific Conference on Medicine, which will be held on February 22nd, 2019, at the University of Latvia Campus in Riga. Abstract submission and registration will open on November 26, 2018 and will close on January 14, 2019. About LaMSA is an NGO promoting health and education. It is one of the 128 national medical student associations, a fully fledged member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations ( IFMSA ). In cooperation with IFMSA the students gain access to international internship possibilities, publication possibilities, campaigns, WHO conferences and other events. Main tasks Cooperation between local and international students. Organisation of clinical internships of medical students. How much does it cost to participate in the FORTHEM individual short-term mobilities?

The participation in the programme is absolutely free for any student that is enrolled to one of FORTHEM partner universities during the application process and during the actual mobility. In addition, you will receive a FORTHEM scholarship to help cover the approximate costs of your travel, accommodation and living expenses while abroad. Students are responsible for finding their own accommodation and meals, but the hosting university can help by providing links and resources. Any additional expenses are not covered by FORTHEM Alliance. For more information about funding you can contact the local FORTHEM office at your home university.

Visiting Marie Curie Individual fellowship writing workshop in Tartu

On the 8th of June, Janis Liepins attended Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSC IF) training day in Tartu.The training was organised by the Estonian Research Council (ETAg). The trainers were Kristin Kraav, National Contact Point for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, ETAg and Terje Tuisk, Head of Department of Science Communication, ETAg. The workshop helped participant’s to grasp central aspects of MSCA IF. The participants were introduced to MSC IF project writing, submitting, evaluating and results reporting phases. Participants could virtually participate in project evaluation and see what are the critical elements ensuring, that grant application will get high evaluation and what are caveats lowering evaluation score.Terje Tuisk talked about necessity to do science communication and what would be adequate channels for the audience of choice.Link to MSCA IF.
Due to the pandemic outbreak conference is cancelled!

Due to the pandemic outbreak and unpredictability of coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as safety measures in Latvia and around the world, the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics (University of Latvia) has cancelled the 12th international scientific conference "New Challenges in Economic and Business Development – 2020: Economic Inequality and Well-Being" (May 14-16, 2020). However, the review process of the papers submitted for the publication in the Conference Proceedings 2020 is already finished and we are ready to publish the online version of the Proceedings in May 2020, but we are still waiting for a confirmation from Web of Science to keep the indexation of the Conference Proceedings. Applications for the Azrieli Foundation’s International Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research at Bar-Ilan University are now open for the 2021-2022 academic year. Scholarships are available in STEM, Humanities and Social Sciences. Online applications for 2021 may be accessed through the Azrieli Foundation’s website . The value of the Fellowship is approximately €47,000 (+ ILS 188,000) per year, including funds reserved for research and travel . Candidates are required to have an academic supervisor at the university. Students who need support finding an academic sponsor/host at BIU should contact my colleague Prof. Rachel Dekel (copied).
