Humanitāro zinātņu fakultātē jau rit otrā eksāmenu sesijas nedēļa. Atskatoties uz notikušo pavasara semestrī, ir jāatzīmē studentu organizētā konference "Izglītības izaicinājumi 21. gadsimtā", kas notika Angļu filoloģijas BSP studiju kursa “Angļu valodas mutvārdu un rakstveida saziņa II” ietvarā. Studentu rīkotā konference "Izglītības izaicinājumi 21. gadsimtā" norisinājās 2019. gada 23. maijā. Studējošie prezentēja tajā savus pētījumus par dažādiem ar izglītību Latvijā, Lielbritānijā, Amerikas Savienotajās Valstīs, Zviedrijā un Somijā saistītiem jautājumiem. Studējošie iepazīstināja ar Erasmus+ iespējām studēt kādā no ārvalstu augstskolām, kā arī to, kas jāņem vērā pirms došanās studēt uz ārvalstīm un pēc atgriešanās Latvijā. Konferences plenārsēdēs uzstājās divu uzņēmumu pārstāvji. Triju Baltijas valstu universitāšu rektoru stipendija šogad piešķirta studentei no Viļņas Universitātes Gabrielei Aputītei. Šogad Latvijas Universitāte bija atbildīga par konkursa norisi. Stipendijas mērķis ir attīstīt pārrobežu sadarbību starp trim Baltijas valstīm un to vadošo universitāšu sadarbību akadēmiskajos jautājumos, piemēram, veicinot valodu un kultūras pētījumus.Konkursā var piedalīties visu specialitāšu studenti, tādēļ noteicošo lomu pieteikumos nespēlē tikai valodas gramatiskie aspekti. Svarīgs ir valodas lietojums kontekstā, prasme izteikties. Pirmajā kārtā konkursa dalībniekam vajadzēja iepazīstināt ar sevi un uzrakstīt īsu eseju par kādu noteiktu tematu trīs Baltijas valstu valodās. Savukārt pēdējā kārtā tika izvirzīti labākie kandidāti no katras universitātes, lai prezentētu sevi un savu piemērotību stipendijas iegūšanai. No Tartu Universitātes tika izvirzīti divi kandidāti: Elmars Gams un Vasilisa Kovkin, un no Viļņas Universitātes – Gabriela Aputīte. Šogad

Jau tradicionāli Latvijas Universitātē (LU) pirmkursniekus jaunajā studiju gadā ieved informatīvs pasākums “Iepazīsti LU”, kurā iespējams uzzināt nepieciešamo informāciju par veiksmīgu studiju norisi. Arī šogad lekcijas notiks attālināti un tās tiešraidē varēs vērot LU tīmekļa vietnē un Facebook lapā. Pirmie studiju mēneši LU ir interesants un emocijām piesātināts laiks. Gan mācību organizēšanas, gan satura un mācību vērtēšanas kārtība Universitātē atšķirsies no jauno studentu līdzšinējās pieredzes. In the first round the students enrolled at any of the FORTHEM partner universities will be able to candidate for the proposed projects that will take place between March 2021 and end of August 2021. In addition to collective programs, we will also fund individual mobilities for students with specific projects (MA thesis research, laboratory research… in one of the partner universities). Now last details of the application procedure are being coordinated before the call for student applications opens in late October. Second round of student applications for the project taking place between September 2021 and February 2022 will open in spring 2021. Last year 13 collective short term mobility programs were selected. Due to COVID-19 three had to be cancelled, four were already or will shortly be organised virtually and six were postponed

Ar Latvijas Universitātes (LU) fonda starpniecību A. Raistera piemiņas stipendiju savu mērķu un pētījumu īstenošanai eksaktajās zinātnēs saņēmuši trīs daudzsološi LU Ģeogrāfijas un Zemes zinātņu fakultātes studenti – Līga Paparde, Krišjānis Rudus un Viesturs Zandersons. Līga Paparde ir ģeoloģijas maģistra studiju programmas 2. kursa studente. Līga jau kopš studiju sākuma aktīvi darbojas pētniecībā, strādājot Kvartārvides laboratorijā. Savos pētījumos Līga apskata seno cilvēku apmetnes Latvijā, cenšoties izzināt mūsu priekšteču dzīves vēsturi no klimatisko apstākļu indikatoriem. Šobrīd Līgas galvenais pētījumu objekts ir Lubāna līdzenums. Pati par sevi viņa saka: “Mana motivācija ir laiks. Vēlme darīt tagad. Iespējams, manī jau kopš bērnības ir iemitinājies mazais Sprīdītis vai Magelāns, kurš vēlas izzināt pasauli un atstāt kādu vērā ņemamu labumu arī nākamajām paaudzēm.” Krišjānis Rudus ir ģeogrāfijas maģistra studiju programmas 1. kursa students.
