ON STREETS In any public area, one should always be alert. There are accidents targeting foreigners - bag snatching, pickpocketing and petty theft. Airports, train stations, overcrowded public transport and routes to major hotels and the Old Town are prime locations for pickpocketers. Therefore, wherever you are, be aware of your pockets and backpacks. When in pubs and restaurants never leave your belongings unattended. Thus you will be able to avoid some unpleasant moments. If possible, do not walk alone at night and do not make friends with unknown persons. As the university’s dormitories are not situated in the centre of the city, one should pay attention to security issues within late hours. This conference focuses on the diversity of Azerbaijan’s cultural and scientific heritage! We invite all interested participants to become acquainted with a few ideas for topics to explore and present at the conference. For those interested in religion , we suggest looking into Islam in Azerbaijan, e.g. Azerbaijan’s Sufism, as well as other religions, such as Zoroastrianism in Azerbaijan or Azerbaijan’s ancient tradition of Christianity. In the context of culture and art , we invite you to look into miniature art (e.g. from Tebriz) or Caucasian Albania’s historical culture. For those interested in biographical research, we suggest perhaps looking into intellectual giants such as poet Nizami Ganjavi, poet Imadaddin Nasimi and the outstanding cultural worker and poet Khurshidbanu Natavan. For a more comprehensive list of prominent Azerbaijani cultural figures, contact the organising committee. Let us remind potential participants of the opportunity to use the resources offered
