and dynamic learning environments with the aim to encourage our students to become designers of innovative processes and develop future skills, such as analytical thinking, creativity and communication. They will serve as new and innovative interfaces between education, research and innovation. They will provide new tools for transferring research-based knowledge to society and transmitting the input, knowledge and ideas from society to universities. The outputs of the Labs will include new online teaching material for FORTHEM Digital Academy , new intensive courses, joint scientific publications and final reports of civic engagement projects. On the long run, the FORTHEM Alliance is working towards the establishment of collective PhD groups and joint degree programmes related to the seven topics. The FORTHEM Campus will be closely linked with the activities of all FORTHEM Labs . More information FORTHEM Labs: What are they, really?
Saudzēsim to, lai tā turpina kalpot

Aija Zobena This paper examines the main ideas discussed in papers presented at the Sociology session of the 72nd Scientific Conference of University of Latvia. Several research projects under the National Research Program National Identity were undertaken at the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Their focus was on the different dimensions of national identity. Researchers and doctoral students at University of Latvia investigate the different discourse strategies of national minorities, examine local practices in the context of global processes and study how the dimensions of these identities reflect the complexity of social structure in contemporary society. Finally the role of individual choices in the development of self-identity is discussed.

The Model European Union Mainz (MEUM) takes “Experiencing Europe” to another level. During a four-day simulation, participants assume roles of the Ministers of the Council of the European Union (CEU) or of the members of the European Parliament (EP), while two experienced attendees act as European Commissioners. Mirroring the actual legislative processes, real EU directive are proposed to be discussed and amended. Being one of the oldest EU simulation projects, this 12th edition of MEUM launched its call as a FORTHEM collective short-term mobility and attracted about 50 international students from nine countries who met in Mainz from 22nd to 26th June. Once again, the student organisation “Bringing Europeans Together Association“ (BETA), alongside professor Michèle Knodt from TU Darmstadt and professor Arne Niemann and his team from JGU, were instrumental in coordinating the MEUM 2022. The legislation proposals chosen for this year’s debate covered subjects such as reaching climate

and Knowledge Centered Systems " (LNCS, Springer). He was guest editor of three special issues of "International Journal of Computer Systems Science and Engineering on "Mobile Databases", "Data Management in Grid and P2P Systems", and "Elastic Data Management in Cloud Systems". Abstract My talk will be centred on the evolution of Data Management Systems (DMS) in different environments (Uniprocessor, Parallel, Distributed, Cloud). The interest of this talk to PhD students is twofold: on one hand, to have a synthetic view of the main characteristics of the DMS by highlighting the introduced concepts, the links between the DMS, their objectives and the targeted applications. These systems are at the base and at the heart of business decision support systems; on the other hand, in the field of ICT systems, the outline of my presentation will help PhD students in terms of work methodology followed by all PhD students until the defence of their doctoral thesis (Scientific Context /Motivation
