11. aprīlī LU Sociālo zinātņu fakultātes bakalaura studiju programmas “Komunikācijas zinātne” pilna laika klātienes 1.kursa studentiem nodarbības notika Latvijas Nacionālajā bibliotēkā (LNB). Nodarbību laikā studenti iepazinās ar Latvijas Nacionālās bibliotēkas lietošanas daudzveidīgajām iespējām un tās bagātīgo digitālo bibliotēku, abonētajām datubāzēm, informācijas meklēšanas rīkiem un datubāzu saturu. Studentiem bija iespējams iepazīties arī ar LNB ēku un tās vēsturi, lasītavām un aktuālajām izstādēm. Viņi apmeklēja LNB pastāvīgo ekspozīciju “Grāmata Latvijā”, kas vēsta par Latvijas grāmatniecības vēsturi pasaules kontekstā un kurā akcentēta pirmās grāmatas latviešu 500-gade, kas tiks svinēta 2025. gadā. Pēc viesošanās LNB studente Kristīne Kozuliņa stāstīja: “11. aprīli notika ekskursija un nodarbības Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēkā, ko bieži dēvē par "Gaismas pili", un mūs, 1.kursa komunikācijas studentus, apbūra šīs vietas valdzinājums. 29. augustā Latvijas Universitātes galvenajā ēkā norisināsies ikgadējais pasākums “Iepazīsti LU”, uz kuru aicināti gan bakalaura 1. kursa studenti, gan studenti, kas šogad studijas sākuši maģistrantūrā. Veiksmīga studiju uzsākšana ir saistīta ar veiksmīgu adaptēšanos jaunajā studiju vidē: jāapgūst un jāizprot jaunas lietas, kārtība un prasības gan studiju vidē, gan ārpus tās. Pasākuma "Iepazīsti LU" galvenais mērķis ir informēt par studentu atbalsta sistēmām LU, sniegt vērtīgus padomus un ieteikumus, kā veiksmīgāk organizēt savas studijas, kā arī iepazīstināt jaunos studentus ar dažādām organizācijām Universitātē, kurās jaunie studenti varēs piedalīties no studijām brīvajā laikā – iegūt jaunus draugus, attīstīt prasmes, kā arī atpūsties un izklaidēties. “Iepazīsti LU” sāksies plkst. 10.00 Lielajā aulā ar lekciju “Iepazīsti savu kuratoru un mentoru” , kas ir atbalsta programma jaunajiem studentiem. We are happy to welcome back in the classes an alumni of European Studies Masters Programme, this time as a lecturer - Mr. Andris Kužnieks! He will deliver classes on Regional Policy to our 1st year students of academic year 2015/2016. Mr. Kužnieks graduated from ESMP at the University of Latvia in 2002 (the 1 st graduation of programme). Currently, as of 2012, he is a Deputy Head of the European Commission Permanent Representation in Latvia. Mr. Kužnieks has an extensive experience working as a Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Governments of Latvia and the Ministry of Economics of Latvia. Besides, he was a Project Manager for several EU-level projects. Proud of our Alumni!

Jau trešo gadu turpinās sadarbības projekts starp studentiem Latvijas Universitātes Humanitāro zinātņu fakultātē un Akireiri Universitātē Islandē. Latviju projektā pārstāv studenti no vācu filoloģijas, bet šogad arī no franču filoloģijas programmām. Kā līdz šim, arī šogad projekta mērķis ir aplūkot dažādas interesantas, Islandē un Latvijā aktuālas tēmas, diskutēt par tām, kā arī labi pavadīt laiku un iegūt jaunus draugus. Studentiem jāveido prezentācijas angļu valodā, kurās atspoguļoti pētījumu rezultāti par konkrētu tēmu savā valstī. Akireiri Universitātes studenti Latvijā pirmo reizi ieradās 2013. gadā. Togad prezentāciju tēma bija Varoņi (Heroes). Abu valstu studentu uzdevums bija noskaidrot, kas viņu izpratnē ir uzskatāmi par varoņiem un kā varoņa jēdziens traktēts, ievērojot atšķirības kultūrvidē.Turpretī 2014. gadā studenti no Latvijas devās uz Islandi. Katra diena sākās ar abu valstu studentu diskusijām un prezentācijām par iepriekš sagatavoto tēmu Identitāte (Identity

Until the middle of November, a “homestay” has been announced in Latvia, – it means that we must spend more time indoors, and therefore take up an even more sedentary lifestyle. To maintain a lively spirit and fit body, the UL students and employees have an offer from the UL Sports Centre to join the morning gymnastics! It is held online in Latvian language, but everyone can follow the example of coach and benefit from a chance of easy workout. Morning gymnastics will take place every working day, headed by experienced fitness coach: On Monday, Wednesday, Friday – at 8:00 On Tuesday, Thursday – at 8:30 On the other hand, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:10 lunchtime exercise or gymnastics for employees and students will be offered – a simple exercise that can be performed in office outfit. Regardless of whether we are in a "lecture", "at work" or at home – we can connect to the to exercise, move and then resume work or studies! Exercise duration – up to 15 minutes
