Mācību kursa mērķis ir sniegt studentiem zināšanas par cilvēka dažādu orgānu un orgānu sistēmu histoloģisko uzbūvi, to mijiedarbību un funkcijām. Kursa uzdevumi ir 1) iepazīstināt studentus ar orgānu sistēmu, īpaši mutes dobuma orgānu morfofunkcionālām īpatnībām, pamatojoties uz medicīniskās histoloģijas jaunākajiem sasniegumiem; 2) sniegt studentiem zināšanas par cilvēka orgānu pārmaiņām ontoģenēzē; 3) kā arī veidot izpratni par diagnostisko manipulāciju un ārstēšanas metožu morfofunkcionālo pamatojumu. Kurss tiek docēts angļu valodā.

Trīs dienu tiešsaistes hakatonu organizē Latvijas Universitātes Cietvielu fizikas institūts, un tas norisināsies no 16. līdz 18. oktobrim . Piedalīties aicināti studenti no jebkuras universitātes un studiju jomas, lai strādātu pie idejām un risinājumiem STEM (dabaszinības, tehnoloģijas, inženierzinātne, matemātika) nozarēs. “Student Deep Science Hackathon” tiek organizēts jau kopš 2018. gada. Šajā nedēļas nogalē hakatons jau otro reizi pulcēs zinātkāros studentus no Latvijas universitātēm, kas interesējas par STEM (dabaszinībām, tehnoloģijām, inženierzinātnēm, matemātiku) nozarēm. “Student Deep Science Hackathon” būs trīs dienu tiešsaistes pasākums, kas nodrošinās mentoru un ekspertu atbalstu pašreizējiem studentiem inovatīvu ideju attīstīšanai virtuālā vidē. A story about compatriots’ contribution to strengthening knowledge Valija and Modris Galenieks are compatriots who inspire and amaze with their life experiences, their endless love for Latvia and their willingness to support and help. The current article is dedicated to the Galenieks Family, congratulating Valija on her 80 th anniversary. The Galenieks family conceived the idea of donating about five years ago in the advent of their 50 th wedding anniversary. They unanimously decided to forgo a grand celebration, but instead to support the most talented students of the University of Latvia (UL) and Riga Technical University (RTU) . In 2018, the couple set up the Galenieks Family Scholarship in collaboration with the American-Latvian Foundation “Friends of the University of Latvia” and the UL Foundation. The EUA delegation came to Riga because of its concern about the financial situation of the higher education in Latvia due to the severe cuts (by 47%) of higher education funding in 2009; what is more, the higher education budget is planned to be further reduced by 23% in 2010. When asked about the situation of higher education funding in Poland, T. Luty said that Polish Government has not reduced its funding for higher education institutions, but it has instructed them to draw up an additional “crisis budget” (reduced by 10%) apart from their budget plans in case it would be necessary to implement it. Šī gada 14.-18. jūlijā Indonēzijas galvaspilsētā Džakartā norisinājās YICGG 2019 (angl. Youth Innovative Competition on Global Governance ). Tā ir starptautiska līmeņa konference, kuru organizēja Fudaņas Universitāte (Ķīna) sadarbībā ar ANO pārstāvniecību Ķīnā. Šī konference ik gadus pulcē studentus no vairāk kā 40 valstīm. Jau trešo gadu pēc kārtas dalībnieku vidū bija ar LU Politikas zinātnes nodaļas pārstāvji. Šogad tie bija: doktorantūras studente Malvīne Stučka, 3.kursa studente Marta Suharevska un 2.kursa students Miks Cepure. Jaunieši Indonēzijā prezentēja savu ideju par to, kā efektīvāk saglabāt neskartas upju ainavas un ekosistēmu pilsētvidē, uzsverot gan pilsētvides pielāgošanos upju dabīgajam tecējumam, gan nepieciešamību pēc arhitektūras izmaiņām, kā arī dažādu pušu iesaisti lēmumu pieņemšanas procesā pilsētvides izveidē. Inkubatorā tiks uzņemtas 30 komandas un katrs pretendents tiks vērtēts pēc administratīvajiem kritērijiem (pieteikumā norādīta prasītā informācija un pieteikums ir iesniegts norādītajā termiņā), kā arī kvalitatīvajiem kritērijiem (biznesa ideja, komandas atbilstība un komandas motivācija).
