The four FORTHEM summer school organised by professors and students’ associations of the University of Palermo have just ended, and the balance of this experience is more than positive. The summer schools were: “Workshop: Palermo, a city of stratification of culture and dialogue”, organised by SEARCH association and proff. Margagliotta, Corrao and De Marco; “Sustainable Agrofood Production”, led by prof. Inglese’s team;"Migrants’ Rights in European Space”, hosted by prof. Todaro and his team and the last, which has recently concluded, “Practices of language mediation”, coordinated by proff. Rizzo and Rudvin. 95 students from all the partner universities took part in the four collective short-term mobilities, which were related to topics such as the intercultural dialogue, the importance of the correct nutrition, the protection of migrants and the language mediation. The feedback received from students confirms that they are satisfied from their FORTHEM mobility experience

Last year, during the anniversary month, we remembered the beginnings of the Institute - the construction of the building at Ķengaraga Street 8, the opening of the Institute, and looked at how these events were reflected in the press of that time. This year we decided to continue the new tradition and look at the history too. This time, our attention was on students and young researchers at our Institute. At the end of the year,UL Foundation announced that the UL’s perennial patron “Mikrotīkls” LLC has accepted the funding of UL Faculty of Physics, Mathematics andOptometrics(UL FPMO) Physics department’s previously submitted project for acquiring the funds for supplement of equipment for the Laboratory workshop of the Physics department with equipment which would enable the students of physics laboratory to make remote work much more convenient. Due to the spreading of Covid-19, the learning circumstances are limited,includinggaining of practical skills and laboratory workin person. Šogad studētgribētāji bija aicināti iekāpt studenta kurpēs virtuāli un Instagramā uzdot interesējošos jautājumus par studijām Latvijas Universitātē. LU studenti piecu dienu laikā, no 11. līdz 15. maijam, video formātā sniedza atbildes uz 132 jautājumiem. LU Instagram kontā atbildes sniedza LU Sociālo zinātņu fakultātes Komunikācijas zinātnes 1. kursa studente Elīna Krēmere , LU Fizikas, matemātikas un optometrijas fakultātes Fizikas 1. kursa students Andis Poļaks un LU Ķīmijas fakultātes studiju programmas Dabaszinātņu un IT skolotājs 3. kursa studente Andra Annemarija Krūmiņa . Elīna sniedza atbildes uz jautājumiem par iespējām darboties radio NABA, studijām sociālo un humanitāro zinātņu programmās, par pareizu laika plānošanu, kādi pienākumi ir kursa vecākajam, kā arī par to, kāda gaisotne LU valda kopumā, kā vieglāk iepazīties ar jauniem cilvēkiem un kā atrast draugus studiju laikā.
