Konference FSTA 2024 (the 17th International Conference on Fuzzy Set Theory and Applications) notika Slovākijā no 28. janvāra līdz 2. februārim. Konferencē piedalījās seši Matemātikas nodaļas pārstāvji (divi mācībspēki un četri studenti): prof. emer., vad. pētn. Aleksandrs Šostaks, asoc. prof. Olga Grigorenko, doktoranti Emīls Kalugins, Valērijs Mihailovs, Ksenija Varfolomejeva, 4. kursa students Mārtiņš Zemlītis. Ksenija Varfolomejeva saņēma The Best Student Paper Award. Kursa mērķis ir sniegt topošajam zobārstam nepieciešamās latīņu valodas zināšanas gan profesionālai darbībai kopumā ,gan nodrošināt turpmāko medicīnas studiju kursu- .anatomijas,farmakoloģijas u.c sekmīgu apguvi . Minētā mērķa sasniegšanai studenti apgūs pamatzināšanas latīņu valodas gramatikā, medicīnisko terminu veidošanas valodnieciskos pamatprincipus , recepšu noformēšanu ,kā arī pamatiemaņas diagnozes zobārstniecībā sastādīšanā no valodnieciskā aspekta .

Summer school = Q-DYNAMO Workshop on Quantum Control To kick-off the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ2025), the ‘2 nd Q-DYNAMO Workshop on Quantum Control’ was organised on 11.02.2025 at the University of Otago. Two talks on their current research directions were given by the leader of Otago team Prof. Mikkel Andersen, as well as Dr. Rita Veilande from University of Latvia (seconded to Dunedin). Special presentation was given by PhD student Robers Weiß (visiting from Heidelberg University) with the aim to encourage student participation. The workshop was targeted at graduate students audience and therefore organised in a ‘summer school format’ on-site and online. The leader of the Parma team Prof. Sandro Wimberger, who was also visiting the Otago team within the Q-DYNAMO collaboration, concluded the workshop with extensive discussions on modern theoretical and experimental topics.

Šī gada 14.–18. jūlijā Indonēzijas galvaspilsētā Džakartā norisinājās YICGG 2019 (angl. Youth Innovative Competition on Global Governance), kurā piedalījās arī LU Sociālo zinātņu fakultātes pārstāvji. YICGG 2019 ir starptautiska līmeņa konference, kuru organizēja Fudaņas Universitāte (Ķīna) sadarbībā ar ANO pārstāvniecību Ķīnā. Šī konference ik gadus pulcē studentus no vairāk nekā 40 valstīm. Jau trešo gadu pēc kārtas dalībnieku vidū bija ar LU Politikas zinātnes nodaļas pārstāvji. Šogad tie bija: doktorantūras studente Malvīne Stučka, 3.kursa studente Marta Suharevska un 2.kursa students Miks Cepure. Jaunieši Indonēzijā prezentēja savu ideju par to, kā efektīvāk saglabāt neskartas upju ainavas un ekosistēmu pilsētvidē, uzsverot gan pilsētvides pielāgošanos upju dabīgajam tecējumam, gan nepieciešamību pēc arhitektūras izmaiņām, kā arī dažādu pušu iesaisti lēmumu pieņemšanas procesā pilsētvides izveidē. FORTHEM – Fostering Outreach within European Regions, Transnational Higher Education and Mobility is a European Higher Education alliance, a “European University” promoting student and staff mobility and facilitating the emergence of new forms of cooperation. More information www.forthem-alliance.eu . One of the main tasks of the alliance is to establish new types of expert networks, teams and actions. These expert networks are called FORTHEM Labs and have the aim to establish intensive collaboration between researchers, students and university-external associated partners and seek responses to current societal challenges. Students will shape and create the activities and work on the outcomes of the Lab alongside the researchers. The outcome of the Labs will introduce new items for your curricula, like new digital courses, international study programs linked to the current issues and your studies. Liliana Nēruta ir datu bibliotekāre Tartu Universitātes bibliotēkas Nozaru informācijas pakalpojumu departamentā un atbild par doktorantu un pētnieku apmācību un atbalstu datu pārvaldībā, datu pārvaldības nodrošināšanu un attīstību. Lilian Neerut is working as data librarian at the Subject Information Services Department at the University of Tartu Library. She is responsible for training and supporting doctoral students and researchers in data management, in creating a suitable environment for data management and developing Data Management Plans.

During this 3-day course, a team of local and international experts from the FORTHEM universities will teach essential skills of entrepreneurship and starting a business. The attractive venue in the heart of Mainz will nurture your creative spirit and serves as a starting point for an exchange with local start-ups to learn from their experiences. 25 students from the FORTHEM universities will work together in small groups. Within the three days, you will have the opportunity to fictitiously start your own business to gain insights into topics such as understanding your target group, defining and positioning your product/service, setting up the operational processes and creating a promising revenue model. Good English language skills (level B2) are required. The course is not suitable for business administration/economics students. The deadline for your registration will be 15th of May.
