About 200 foreign exchange students from 23 countries study at the University of Latvia (UL) in the autumn semester of the academic year 2020/2021. Most of the foreign students have already arrived in Latvia, and after the period of self-isolation they are welcome attend lectures at the faculties of the University of Latvia. During self-isolation, students can commence their studies remotely by contacting their faculties’ Foreign Affairs Coordinator and the lecturer of the respective course in order to successfully enter the study process on site after the end of self-isolation. Most courses are offered on site at the faculties, but due to security and space constraints, some courses are also provided online. The annual introductory lecture, usually held on site in the University of Latvia Great Hall, was also conducted remotely, for the first time using the Microsoft Teams platform, an online Q&A session was organized for all international exchange students at the end

From the 27th of November till the 5th of December International economy and diplomacy 3rd and 4th year students along with the academic staff of the Faculty of Economics and Management visited one of our partner universities - Hochschule Fulda in Germany.The purpose of the study trip was to participate in the conference Contemporary Issues in International Management Strategies. During their stay students took part in various workshop activities thus improving their knowledge in marketing and organizational management. Our students had prepared presentations for the conference on the topic "The role of Government of Latvia in overcoming the economic crisis" Students also participated in many excursions - guests were taken to salt mine, Cold War memorial “Point Alpha”. 42 student teams have started the new season of the UL Student Business Incubator. For the first time, the teams include international students from Finland (currently – Master’s student at the University of Latvia Faculty of Business, Management and Economics) and Lithuania (Vytautas Magnus University). Their team will develop Autofi application – a vehicle servicing booking app to connect vehicle owners with car service staff. Stanford University in Berlin is one of ten overseas campuses run by the Bing Overseas Studies Program of Stanford University in United States. Stanford in Berlin hosts Stanford students of all majors. Students come to Berlin for periods of 3-9 months of study and optional, subsequent internships. Trips to new and prospective member states of the European Union are part of extracurricular activities, which gives students the opportunity of more practical experiences of different EU dimensions. Doctoral students of the University of Latvia is invited to join the World PhD Students Sustainability Network. This initiative is organised by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research in cooperation with various organisations as a network platform, which PhD students can use to explore the possibilities for cooperation. World PhD Students Sustainability Network is open to all doctoral students worldwide, working on matters related to sustainable development, at both an early stage and at an advanced stage of their work. Participation in network is free of any charges. The PhD students currently working on sustainable development matters will be the ones leading future trends in a 2030-2050 scale, when they will occupy key roles in academia, industry, and other sectors. On October 8, 2021, Palermo, the Mobility Mission Board selected 18 new collective short-term mobility activities within the third round. Students will be able to choose from various multidisciplinary programmes that are going to be organised by partner universities between March 2022 and August 2022; student applications for these activities will be open on October 29th . During the previous two rounds, 26 collective short term mobility programmes were selected. Only a few of them had to be cancelled or moved to the next period due to COVID-19; some of them were also organised in virtual modality. Students participate in regular discussions on the implementation of the program; their suggestions are discussed and taken into consideration if they meet the students’ needs and lead to their better success. During the first study year these discussions are held during and after acquisition of each study course. At the end of each semester the director of the program organizes a discussion on the students’ success and possible further improvements of the process. Students participate in the educators’ research or academic projects or join the doctor student’s research to complete their masters’ investigations.
