In order to attract new foreign students to study in the study programmes of the University of Latvia, on October 28, the University of Latvia participated in the networking event of the best education agents "NET24: TOP 25 World's Best Agents" in Warsaw, Poland.
"Participation in such an event not only allows attracting foreign students from different countries of the world, thanks to the active and professional work of education agents, but also provides an opportunity to find out the current interests of prospective students and ways of obtaining information, so that the University of Latvia can more purposefully plan further student attraction activities on an international scale," pointed out Zane Svilāne, head of the Student Recruitment Department at the University of Latvia.
The informative event, which was dedicated to the promotion of networking of higher education institutions with international education agents and was organized by the "NET24" association, took place on October 28, in Warsaw, Poland, at the "Marriot" conference center. The event was attended by the invited 45 higher education institutions, including the University of Latvia, 64 educational agent agencies that have so far shown the best results of attracting students, 57 countries of the world were represented, gathering a total of 150 participants.
The University of Latvia was represented at the event by Zane Svilāne, the head of the Student Recruitment Department of the University of Latvia, and Kitija Balcare, the communication manager of the Study Development and Governance Improvement Program of the University of Latvia.
The University of Latvia participated in the "NET24: TOP 25 World's Best Agents" event with the aim of introducing educational agents from European, Asian and African countries to study opportunities for foreign students at the University of Latvia, including the newly created study programs. During the event, student attraction agents from countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco and others learned about study opportunities at the University of Latvia. Among the range of newly created study programmes, the greatest interest was in the academic study programme "Biotechnology and Bioengineering" and the academic master's study programme "Epidemiology and Medical Statistics".
The participation of the University of Latvia in the event was possible thanks to the project "Design of Internationally Competitive Study Programmes Promoting the Development of the National Economy of Latvia at the University of Latvia" (project No. 8.2.1.0/18/A/015).
The new study programs were created in the project "Design of Internationally Competitive Study Programmes Promoting the Development of the National Economy of Latvia at the University of Latvia" (project No. 8.2.1.0/18/A/015). Eight faculties of the University of Latvia participate in the project and seventeen new study programs are being developed. Cooperation partners of the project are Daugavpils University, Riga Stradins University, Riga Technical University, Latvian Academy of Arts, University of Tartu. It is planned to complete the development of all new study programs, their licensing, approval and accreditation in the period until November 2023.
