There will be discussed the results of the MODEST project, especially related to general skills courses and the establishment of doctoral schools. Project partners from Armenian universities will present the established doctoral schools. The course materials will be publicly available and it will be possible to implement them in any university to strengthen the skills of doctoral students. There will be presented the created networking platform for doctoral students, a panel discussion will be organized on the results of the project. Also, there will be a networking session on doctoral projects and initiatives in Europe.
The presentations will be given by representatives of universities from the University of Latvia, University of Helsinki, Yerevan State University, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, State Pedagogical University of Armenia, Brunel University, Jagiellonian University, as well as from Coimbra Group universities.
Attendents are welcome to join the conference both – in person or via online – without any participation fee. Working language of the conference is English.
Conference will take place in at the University of Latvia, in the Small Hall (Raina bulvaris 19, Riga) on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.

At the end of the conference, participants are kindly invited to attend the concert entitled “On the road…” of the choir of the University of Latvia BALTA under the leadership of the conductor Mara Marnauza. The concert will take place at the end of the conference at 6.30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia.
The MODEST (Modernization of Doctoral Education in Science and Improvement of Teaching Methodologies) project aims to improve the quality of doctoral studies in engineering by modernizing the curriculum, optimizing doctoral studies, facilitating the supervision of scientific research and increasing academic mobility.
MODEST is a three-year project with the wider aim of enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions in partner countries in the field of doctoral studies in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the European Research Area (ERA).
