A new year has arrived and therefore we have a chance to look back at the year 2020, proving that there are many generous patrons, who want to help out new students and researchers, which will take care of the future of Latvian education. In the year 2020, patrons have supported 35 scholarship categories with more than 100 students and 41 different, outstanding research projects.
To donate – a verb, which denotes philanthropy, our readiness to give, to help each other. It is a word which emphasizes the deepest meaning of this process. Ivars Lācis, chairman for the University of Latvia foundation, emphasizes that the progress of students and new researchers’ capabilities and intellectual power, who receive support from the foundation, can be easily observed as well as the growth of the foundation itself by the increasing number of donators and students who receive the funds, since its beginnings in 2001.
