The UL representatives significantly contributed to the panel discussion on the role of seniors in international higher education, sharing experiences and best practices from Latvia. The need to promote intergenerational learning and adapt educational programs to meet needs of seniors has been emphasized.
During the conference, the UL team presented the project results, including a specially designed online learning platform for seniors and a toolkit for developing intergenerational learning programs. These resources could encourage the involvement of seniors in lifelong learning and international mobility. The UL representatives also led an interactive workshop on creating intergenerational learning programs, offering practical advice and methodological recommendations for the developing effective educational programs that foster collaboration and learning across generations.
In the concluding discussions, the UL team participated in the dialogue on the future steps in lifelong learning and mobility, highlighting the need for policy changes and greater engagement of higher education institutions in promoting senior education. The University of Latvia by its active participation in this conference has demonstrated the institutional commitment to advancing lifelong learning and intergenerational collaboration by contributing to the development of senior education and mobility in Europe.
