On Wednesday, October 11th, at 14.00 in University of Latvia Social sciences faculty a meeting with Haneen Jameel - - will take place in Jesaja Berlins auditorium.

This will be an opportunity to hear Haneen’s story about her professional work in Iraq, the reasons why she had to leave her country and become a refugee, about her new life in Finland as well as how she sees refugee and migration issues shown in European media. Meeting with the journalist is one of the events in the discussion tour in Latvia happening on October 11-13 as part of the project “Better news media”. During the discussion tour meetings with university students, journalists, high school students and teachers as well as representatives of local NGOs working in the fields of migration, refugee support and human rights. Project „Better News Media” aims to raise media literacy among young people and promote awareness of the problem of refugees to combat racism and intolerance. More about the project.
