During the Riga Summer School
Call for applications for participation in Riga Summer School 2016 – a hands-on documentary filmmaking program for jouralism, media and film students from all over the world – is now open.
The Department of Communication Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Latvia organizes the summer school in the Latvian capital from August 6 – 18, 2016. 14 scholarships available for students from 30 countries for participation in Riga Summer School 2016. The application deadline is 23:59 on April 30, 2016.
The Riga Summer School sixth edition will feature lectures and workshops about the visual identity of Riga by Baltic instructors, as well as provide an opportuntity for small creative teams of students to work on their own short films about neighborhoods of the city of Riga. The thematic topic of this year’s summer school will be “Living Together with Difficult Memories and Different Identities”, which will focus on the cultural memory aspects of the Latvian history. Besides lectures and fieldwork, the summer school will also feature a rich social and cultural program.
The participation fee for the Riga Summer School is 489 EUR, including tuition, accomodation, local travel and meals. Participation fee should be paid after receipt of confirmation on your acceptance into the program, which should be expected by mid-May. The transportation to and from Riga is not included in this price.
Riga Summer School has arranged two scholarship opportunites: Up to 7 Latvian government scholarsips and up to 7 DAAD Go-East scholarships. Students from the following countries are eligabe for the Latvian Government scholarships: Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kazahstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. DAAD Go-East scholarships are available for students from Germany. Students from other countries are encouraged to apply for University of Latvia sholarship and also look for other scholarship opportunities in their home countries and internationally.
All interested students are invited to apply until April 30, 2016 via online application on Riga Summer School website.
