LU konference
The University of Latvia (UL) had a very good start and two teams finished in the top ten, which guarantees them a place in the further competitions. As always there was a tough rivalry among the neighbours for the honour of the top team university in the Baltic States. With a successful finish after a five-hour contest two UL teams once again proved the supremacy of UL programmers.
48 top university teams from Baltic States, Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast in Russia took part in the competition; the quota of participant teams was determined by the last year’s victories. Due to its good start last year, UL represented by 4 teams was one of the biggest delegations. And the team of the Belarusian State University was crowned the champions of the contest; they are among the world top teams too.
On November 11, the best teams from UL, ”Komanda” (Jānis Iraids, Rūdolfs Opmanis, Igors Stepanovs) and ”Z=GS” (Kaspars Balodis, Andrejs Vihrovs, Madars Virza), will go to the semifinal in St. Petersburg. Moreover, UL ”Hyperdrive” (Agnis Āriņš, Artūrs Bačkurs, Krišjānis Prūsis) also were among the leaders and would have secured a place in the semifinal, but for the rules limiting the number of teams representing same university in the semifinal.
