In August 25-27 an international symposium „Integrated oceanographic observation systems and data bases for climate change research” will take place in the Small Hall of the University of Latvia.

The symposium will focus on the technologies and methods helping to understand marine systems and improve the predicting capacity. Therefore symposium themes cover the integrated ocean observing systems and integrated oceanographic data bases, the modelling of marine systems and pressures to them and environmental monitoring technologies. The keynote lecture on a recent oill spill in the Gulf of Mexico will be presented by  Dr. Thomas Mcgee from the University of Mississippi. About 50 participants from the United States, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Korea, Poland and Sweden will come to Riga. This is the fourth symposium  in the Baltic States since 2004 where Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) is one of the organizers. The local partners include the University of Latvia and the Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology.

Full programme of the symposium and the titles of presentations are available at www.lhei.lv/en/
