HE Mr. Tigran Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will read a lecture “Foreign relations of Armenia: future prospects” on 29th of November at 18.15 in University of Latvia, Faculty of Social Sciences 325. auditorium.

Since gaining its independence, Armenia has maintained a policy of complementarism by trying to have friendly relations both with Iran, Russia, and the West, including the United States and Europe. However, the dispute over the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and the recent war over Nagorno–Karabakh have created tense relations with two of its immediate neighbors, Azerbaijan and Turkey. During the lecture, we will get an insight into possible routes Armenia could take in the future, regarding its foreign policy. HE Mr. Tigran Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Baltic states, has previously worked as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and also has been the acting Head of the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also lectured on international relations at the History Faculty of the Yerevan State University. Mr. Mkrtchyan has completed an MPhil degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and has earned a PhD degree in Political Science at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.
