The Baltic University Programme (BUP) invites teachers to participate in SAIL 2016 (Sustainability Applied International Learning) course, which is scheduled for August 14 – 28 on the sailing-ship Fryderyk Chopin travelling from La Coruna (Spain) to Blyth (the United Kingdom).

To apply for teaching the course, the following sustainability issues are eligible: environment, energy, climate, technology, economics, social sciences, education etc. The participants of the journey will develop the exact content of the 7 ECTS course. Alongside with teaching and learning the course, its students are supposed to carry out the duties of ship crew, therefore social skills, physical fitness and health are important, in addition to excellent teaching skills. The international cross-disciplinary team of 10 teachers and 30 students includes participants from the Baltic Sea region: Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Denmark. Preparing for the 25th anniversary of the BUP, the presidency of Latvia highlights the necessity of active steps towards sustainability and draws on the collaboration of higher education institutions in this area.
