From July 9th to July 12nd all flower lovers are invited to the biggest garden festival of the year – the Flower Ball, which this year takes place in the greenery of the Botanical Gardens of the University of Latvia.

Those attending can expect to see sweet peas, roses, lilies, and other flowering and non-flowering plants. They will also be able to purchase the flora that takes their fancy. In addition to this, they will be serenaded all day long by members of the folklore festival “Baltica”, who, on July 10th, will be performing as part of the festival’s ‘Days of Riga’.

The Flower Ball is the largest, most varied, and most widely attended flower and decorative-plant exhibition in the Baltic States. The event is already in its eighth year, and each year it receives more than 20,000 visitors from all over Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and England. Plants and flowers that have been selected and grown by the best gardeners in Latvia will be on show. Visitors will also be treated to the exhibited work of florists, sculptors, and landscape architects.

This year the organisers of the ball have decided to hold the exhibition in natural surroundings – in the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia, where next to permanent exhibitions, a place has been found for the cherished objects of other plant growers.

During the Flower Ball, there will also be a performance by singers from participants of the folklore festival "Baltica". On July 10th, folklore groups from all over Latvia will entertain visitors to the garden.

The Flower Ball exhibition is open from July 9th to July 12th from 9:00 to 19:00. The LU Botanical Garden is located in Pārdaugava, Kandava Street 2.
