The aim of the study program is to promote the development and competitiveness of the teaching, management and research skills of students in the field of education and motivate further academic growth. This programme has been developed in co-operation with three partner Universities in Latvia that have experience in the implementation of similar academic Master study programmes. As a result of passing the program, the master students obtain qualifications to continue their academic research in doctoral studies.
Tasks of the study programme:
- to promote students' research skills by integrating the latest scientific findings and innovative ideas into research activities;
- to promote the development of students' pedagogical competence, readiness to plan, implement, evaluate and develop educational activities in accordance with the learning needs of educational target groups, various abilities and prior knowledge, internal and external conditions of educational institutions and education system development;
- to promote the competence of students' management and leadership by implementing change management;
- to promote student participation and co-responsibility by promoting the development of a competent, responsible and motivated personality for lifelong learning;
- to promote students' understanding of professional and academic ethics standards and their observance in practical activities.
Programme modules
“Educational management” module students will develop understanding and acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about education management, state and local governments, education policies, management of organizations, leadership in education, economics of education, educational work management.
“Teacher Mentor” - module students will solve diverse range of issues of modern education related to changes and new challenges in education policy and practice, implementation of the project “School 2030” in Latvian schools and introduction of the new education standards.
Study period and classes time
The full-time degree programme covers 2.3 semesters. Classes are mainly in the afternoons on business days.

The programme "Educational Sciences" is an academic programme and is oriented towards the preparation of higher-level managers in education, teachers-supervisors and mentors in any sphere of education. This programme ensures all the necessary preconditions for a successful career related to education in public and private sector.

Admission requirements
Module „Educational Management”
- Pedagogical education – bachelor's degree or second-level professional higher education with a completed program of at least 160 credit points/240ECTS; OR Bachelor's degree or second-level professional higher education in any other field with a completed program of at least 160 credit points/240ECTS and work experience or completed courses (at least 2 credit points in the amount) in the relevant field of education or scientific sector.
- The average grade in study courses must be 60% of the maximum.
- English language proficiency.
- Entrance examinations will consist of two parts:
3.1. Written part. Essay on current issues and problems in education in the chosen specialization (300-500 words);
3.2. Oral part Interviews during which the applicant’s communication, leadership, and foreign language skills are tested. - All grades must be passing (at least 4 on a 10-point scale).
Module “Teacher Mentor”
- Bachelor's degree or second level professional higher education in Pedagogy (acquired at least 240ECTS).
- The average grade in study courses must be 60% of the maximum.
- English language proficiency.
- Entrance examinations will consist of two parts:
3.1. Written part. Essay on current issues and problems in education in the chosen specialization (300-500 words);
3.2. Oral part Interviews during which the applicant’s communication, leadership, and foreign language skills are tested. - All grades must be passing (at least 4 on a 10-point scale).
As a part of the admission process applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview.
