Pre-trial Investigation - Professional Master’s Programme

Only law enforcement officials (including the State Police, Military Police, Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, State Revenue Service Tax and Customs Police Administration, Prosecutor’s Office, or Internal Security Bureau) are eligible to enrol.

The aim of the “Pre-trial Investigation” programme is to offer high-quality professional higher education in law, in line with Level 7 of the Latvian Framework of Qualifications. The programme meets the needs of the state and the labour market, providing a robust theoretical foundation, upholding the standards of the legal profession, and offering practical applicability. Graduates will be equipped to independently pursue professional legal activities and conduct theoretical research.

Programme Director

The programme aims to prepare specialists capable of responsible, proactive, and precise work, adhering to professional legal standards, both independently and as part of a team. Students will utilise their theoretical knowledge and research methods to solve specific problems. The programme offers in-depth knowledge in legal science, enhancing abilities to interpret, create, and improve legal norms, and prepares students for creative as well as research work in the field.

Professional Master’s Degree in Law with the qualification of a lawyer

Conditions of Admission:**

  • Previous qualifications: First -cycle (second -level) professional higher education in law or a bachelor’s degree in law, with at least 120 credits (ECTS) of law courses completed
  • No entrance exam is required
  • Special conditions: Employment with the Investigation Office or the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Eligible applicants are accepted according to the conditions of the ‘Internal Security Academy’ consortium and the list compiled by the Ministry of the Interior, adhering to the selection requirements and evaluation criteria set by the investigating authorities.
