Riga Volleyball School/University of Latvia

Riga volleyball School has started cooperation with the University of Latvia in season 2020/2021.
Director of the Riga volleyball School K. Cernavskis: “I believe that cooperation with the University of Latvia is a big and important step for the Riga volleyball School. From now on, the most talented students after graduating from high school will have the opportunity to continue starting in RVS teams and successfully connecting it with studies at the University of Latvia, or to develop dual careers. Cooperation also provides that the Latvian University team starting in the Latvian Championship will become our farm club. This provides an opportunity for the most talented LU players to play at a higher level, while our players, who are not yet ready to play in the Baltic League, will be able to obtain more game practice in the Latvian Championship. For now, the collaboration is only for the most talented girls, but i believe this project will prove itself well and then we can build a similar collaboration for the guys as well.”

Comment by Ugis Bisenieks, director of the Sports centre of the University of Latvia, on the cooperation initiated: “Collaborating together is the right step to help an athlete develop fully and reach higher peaks in both sport and life! Our example is a good start to a more fully-fledged model of the sports system in the country.
