“Dual career allows me to combine my heart case - academic rowing with my studies at the law school of the University of Latvia. It's significant financial support to cover tuition fees and a great opportunity to get to know other athletes from all sorts of sports. Dual careers make it easier to communicate with trainers and find support for study organizational issues if any problems arise. A great opportunity is also to take a C course and get the necessary credits where, as a high achiever athlete, you simply have to continue to do what you already do in everyday sport and achieve high results!” /academic rower, University of Latvia student/

“When I was in high school and also doing sports, I often had to think - 'What am i going to do with my professional sports career when I start going to university?'” A great solution in my situation is the Dual career support programme of University of Latvia athletes, because thanks to this programme, I can connect studies in higher education with professional sports career. This was also one of the main reasons I chose to study at the University of Latvia!” /canoer, graduate of the University of Latvia /

"One of the opportunities offered to me by the Dual sports career of the University of Latvia is that I can adapt my training schedule to university studies, as well as the fact that while away in camps, teachers are quite forthcoming and allow work to be done remotely. Self-discipline is vital when actively sporting and studying. The key is to execute all the jobs in a timely manner, and if you need to sort something out sooner or later, the main thing is to communicate with teachers in a timely manner!" /Athlete, student of the University of Latvia /

"There are often situations where training or games fall at the same time as a lecture. This is not a problem at the University of Latvia, because if you are a Dual career athlete, you can talk to teachers. You can almost always move your presentation or write a tests at different time. As well as, Dual career athletes also have the opportunity to receive tuition fee discounts, which is very important for almost all students.” /BK "LU" basketball player, University of Latvia student/

'I'm a bobsledder and my active sports time (autumn and winter) always overlaps with intense study time. It often comes together to be abroad during the season and exam session. I always warned the lecturers that I would not be able to attend the lectures, and always managed to find a compromise on what to do. The lecturers always seemed forthcoming and always managed to finish things in time. I think all the work can be done on time planning. All you need to do is communicate and do! Studies at UL also helped my sports career as I learned to find topics of interest to myself in the scientific field. As well as a lot from the knowledgeable trainers. /bobsledder, graduate of the University of Latvia /

"As I practice luge sports when the competition season is in the winter, and I spend the most intense study period outside of Latvia, I can definitely say that the Dual career is a great way to combine professional sports with studies. This semester I came across subjects where I could not pass the exams right away along with the group, but the lecturers were so welcoming that they extended the deadline for me and I passed everything when I returned to Latvia. Another big plus, the higher the achievements in sports, the greater the tuition fee discount, which is a great motivator to devote myself fully outside of studies in training." /luger, student of the University of Latvia/

"The Dual career is an essential support for me, allowing me to effectively combine my studies with active floorball playing. The UL Sports Center provides a flexible approach to my study schedule, which allows me to adjust training and competition times without compromising on academic progress. This not only helps me maintain a high level of athletic fitness, but also promotes discipline and time management skills, which are also useful in studies. In addition, this approach provides an opportunity to develop both intellectual and physical abilities, creating a balanced and harmonious lifestyle." /"LU/FS Masters" floorball player, University of Latvia student/

"As a child, when I was still practicing basketball, my parents always scared me that doing professional sports is quite risky, because in case of a major injury, the athlete loses his current job and finding another one is very difficult due to the lack of education, but with the Dual career, I believe that athletes no longer have, to worry about. Now it is much easier to combine training with lectures. I have enjoyed this offer provided by the University of Latvia, at the same time training in rowing 2 times a day both in winter and in summer, and after a hard training cycle I won 6th place in the U- 23 in the European Championship." /academic rower, graduate of the University of Latvia/

"I always try not to procrastinate in order to reduce my stress level, both in everyday life and in the training process, which is very important for high-performance athletes. I remember a time when I missed school because I was in a training camp preparing for the upcoming competition season, which resulted in me missing a lot of practical classes at university At that moment, I was very lucky to be able to arrange practical work remotely, thanks to Dual career, and there was no difficulty in inviting them as subjects for practical work a great opportunity for all student-athletes to combine the training process as effectively as possible and achieve 100% success in studies!" / triathlete, graduate of the University of Latvia/
