The doctoral study program "Natural Sciences: Chemistry" ensures the acquisition of scientific qualifications in the subfields of biological science. The aim of the study program is to prepare highly qualified specialists in one of the sub-branches of chemistry, giving doctoral students in-depth knowledge and skills necessary for independent academic and scientific-research work. The scientific institutes of Latvia and LU are also involved in providing the doctoral study program in close cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry. It is also possible to simultaneously study in a joint doctoral program with another foreign university.

Drawing on UL regulation 2009 - No 239 (with Senate of University of Latvia editions until 02.07.2018. ), the UL Doctoral School of Lifelong learning (LU-DS-LLL) "Strengthening of Human Capacity and Learning in Life and Work in Inclusive Contexts of Diversity" is a multi-disciplinary theme-oriented UL project. The Doctoral School is managed by the Council with international and national members as well as representatives of participating doctoral programmes. The Doctoral School also participates in the implementation of Master Study programmes, as they prepare students for possible doctoral degree studies.

The course is designed to develop students oral and written English skills in the field of business management The tasks of the course are: 1. to prepare students for oral and written business communication in an unternational environment. 2. to help students acquire terminology related to the chosen speciality. The course covers such topics as legal forms of organization, raising finance, financial stability, and basic laws of marketing. Students discuss problems of international marketing and commerce as well as intercultural communication issues.The skills and terminology acquired during the lessons are complemented by individual reading and writing academic annotations on professional topics. Students knowledge and skills are assessed with the help of three tests and a presentation about international commerce. The course has been designed for all speciality students of the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics. The language of instruction-is English.

The aim of the course providing general understanding on the legal sources and the fields of application of the European labour law, including the knowledge on the importance of the European labour law in national legal systems and its practical application The course provides special attention to the legal sources of European labour law such as case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, European Social Rights Committee and Court of Justice of the EU and its application in practice. The course is conducted by using critical thinking method by developing and excelling the skills necessary for the identification of necessary legal sources, their search in data bases of the case-law (Eur-Lex, Curia, HUDOC), analysis and application in the practice.
