"Environment Academy" are free classes for 10th-12th grade students,organized by the School of Environmental Scientists. Students learn many new things actively and excitingly while competing for the benefits of admission to the Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences of the University of Latvia! At the Academy, students gain knowledge and understanding of the environment and the need for environmental protection! Each lesson is devoted to one of the topics of environmental science, such as water quality, sustainable use of resources, quality of the urban environment, human influence on natural processes, etc. The lessons consist of theoretical and practical parts, during which participants learn practical skills by working in scientific laboratories and learning software used by industry. Course
The aim of this course is to gain an in-depth understanding of aspects related to theory and practice in civil procedure. The focus will mostly be on timely issues related to improvements in this procedure. Students will also learn how to study civil procedure norms in depth. The issues will be discussed in the context of relevant regulations in other European countries. There will also be analysis of judicature materials, as well as the views which have been expressed by experts on specific aspects of civil procedure.

In 2010 , the Moot Court Competition was won by University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Vija Kalniņa, Liene Pommere, and Artis Straupenieks . The Best Oralist award was given to Laura Lapiņa , a semifinalist , while the Best Judge award was granted to Jūlija Jerņeva , an alumna of the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law and a multiple-time participant in various international moot court competitions. In 2008 , the Moot Court Competition marked a significant milestone—its 10th anniversary . The competition was won by University of Latvia Faculty of Law students Māra Stabulniece and Vairis Dmitrijevs . Vairis Dmitrijevs was also awarded the Best Oralist prize based on a joint decision by the organizers and judges. The Best Judge award was granted to Anita Kovaļevska , a lecturer at the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law.
