The content of the programme provides the opportunity to understand the nature of the working environment-based training (WEBT) its role in the vocational education and in preparation of qualified specialists. Participants will analyse qualitative WEBT or practice, organization of a company, legal and pedagogical conditions of cooperation of its employees, teachers and students. The programme provides for the development of communication and contact skills using interactive teaching methods. The programme provides a detailed description of WEBT organization and implementation, analyzing students` learning motivation and conditions enabling personality development. Participants will learn diverse teaching and training techniques and ways for the evaluation of the learning outcomes. The program also includs practical recommendations on time and stress management. The program is offered in full-time as well as in form of distance learning.

The course is one of the "Multilevel STEM Acquisition in Primary School grades 1 to 6" modules for Sciences I. It is focused on practice-based and research-based knowledge. When finishing the course, the participant will have expanded understanding of how structuring the curriculum in the study areas emphasizes the need to develop a unified understanding for the student, focusing on the essential, developing transversal skills, creating habits in science. In classes, educators will have the opportunity to analyze learning situations, teaching materials, discuss how to change teaching approach in natural science, to implement interdisciplinarity in their practice, to engage in the exchange of professional experiences on approaches to learning mathematics, natural sciences and technology aimed at transferring student skills among these subjects. There will be teachers' independent work between classes.

The aim of the course “French” (for levels from 1 to 4) is to allow the students to acquire a sufficient level of French to communicate in ordinary situations of social and professional life. The set of these courses represents about 200 hours of teaching and corresponds to a half of the „Independent Speaker” level (“Treshold”) established by Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The goal of the course „French 2” is to develop and improve students’ speaking and listening skills (understanding the lecturer and audio records), reading and writing skills (expand knowledge of grammar and enrich the vocabulary), focusing on the communication in everyday and professional situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters (giving basic personal information, describing immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need). Making communication between librarians and library users

Objective – to offer knowledge on principles of making communication between librarians and library users and characterise main problems in process of users service. In course process students extend knowledge about librarians actions in different situations in users service process. Lectures examine the necessity to make positive communication between librarians and users; give common characteristics of communication; characteristics of users; characteristics of librarians; characteristics of communication between librarians and users; analize conflicts in users service process and facilities to solve its, facilities of making communication with users with deviant behaviour; accentuate main requirements for librarians which are employed in users servicing. In seminars students present characteristics of users contingent in different types of libraries, analize conflictsituations in process of users service to repose on practical experience in users service.

The goal of the study course is to contribute to the students knowledge of history of the Holocaust and related processes of memory and culture in Latvia. 
The tasks of the study course:
  • to introduce students with a history of the Holocaust in Latvia. To study the significance of media representation in creating the Holocaust as an important and meaningful discourse and moral lesson during lectures and seminars.
  • Using example of the Holocaust, to view theoretically the interaction between social memory, contemporary communication and culture, as well as the viability of global discourse in the national memory space.
  • To analyse differences in the knowledge and interpretations of the Holocaust under different regimes and time periods; to introduce key topics and basic terminology of the Holocaust research.

Objectives of the course - to develop students’ ability to keep up communication in Russian in everyday, sociocultural and educational spheres. The course activates students’ skills in speaking, reading, listening, writing, extends the volume of lexical items, complements and deepens knowledge on Russian grammar and perfects skills to use the mastered grammatical structures at expression of different intents, acquaints with actual information about Russia. The course consists of 8 topics. Mastering of a topic supposes the prosecution of vocabulary and grammar, acquaintance with texts, audio and video records. The topics of the course give ability to repeat, extend and activate studied before, to go back to the difficulties for foreigners at mastering of Russian (use of different cases, use of perfective and imperfective of the Russian verbs, use of verbs of motion, etc). At classes authentic materials are used.

The language course is designed for foreign students, who have completed “Latvian as a Foreign Language for Medical Studies I, II” (levels A1/A2). The aim of the course is to help the learners’ consolidate and improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, to increase the vocabulary and to expand the knowledge of grammar, to ensure the acquisition of medical vocabulary and terminology in Latvian. The study material includes medical vocabulary, grammar exercises and dialogues to enrich vocabulary and expand communicative experience in interaction (doctor – patient), to enhance the student's ability to obtain and provide information using the Latvian language in communication with the patient.
