to the development of science in Latvia as a whole – a new and topical research direction (polar research) will be developed in Latvia. Thus, the recognition of Latvia and Latvian scientists in the world will be promoted. Based on the results and experience gained during the project implementation, several courses of the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral study programs in Geography and Geology at the University of Latvia will be modernized and improved. Students who successfully complete these courses will have the opportunity to participate in future expeditions to the polar regions. Latvian society will be educated about current problems related to the melting of Antarctic glaciers and its consequences. Realization: April 2017 – April 2018. The expedition will be realized from February to March, in 2018. Project implementation includes preparation and planning of the expedition, implementation and analysis of post-expedition data and publication of results. The project is being implemented thanks

In the first quarter of the project, work was carried out in the research activity <WP1> "WTe2 growth". To develop growth methods of high-quality WTe2/hBN heterostructures, effort was focused on the following tasks: 1) setting up the equipment. Even though the University of Latvia, Institute of Chemical Physics (hereinafter UL-ICP) has all the necessary infrastructure for growth of WTe2 by the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), it was decided to install a setup designated for these specific syntheses. 2) To select the most suitable growth strategies. In the project activity <WP1> it was initially planned to develop two CVD approaches - a) from WTe2 and b) WCl6/W(CO)6 /Te precursors. However, the mentioned precursors oxidize rapidly / are unstable under ambient conditions hence WO3/NaCl was chosen for the initial syntheses. 3) Determination of the “growth parameter window” for obtaining WTe2, initially using Si/SiO2 substrates. The project's team was joined by two students

All Erasmus+ trainees must take mandatory online foreign language assessments (tests) in the OLS system before and at the end of the internship . This must be done by trainees whose main working language of mobility is English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Dutch. The purpose of the online foreign language tests is to allow a trainee to ascertain the level of foreign language knowledge prior to the period of Erasmus+ internship, as well as to assess progress after the Erasmus+ internship. After signing the Erasmus+ agreement (grant agreement), the trainee's e-mail addresses will be entered into the OLS system. Afterwards, trainees will receive automated e-mails from the OLS system with a link to the online foreign language test. The trainee will be given a certain number of days to complete the online foreign language test. If the trainee does not pass the online foreign language test in a timely manner, he/she will be barred from performing the test. In this case
