Promoting Social Enterprise: Educational aspect

The course is designed for developning students' practical skills demonstrating independence, responsibility, creativity, abbility for team work in order to acknowledge and offer new solutions for everyday situations in order to enrich experience and strengthen belief in ability to improve ones'own and community's quality of life. Social enterprise as an educational category, quality of life, holistic and innovative action and action research will be analysed. The opportunity will be provided to reflect on team work and implemented action reseach and its results through peer and intergenerational learning approaches.

International Media Law

The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of application and functioning of the media law in international, European and national contexts. The course starts with introduction of the main concepts of media law, such as the concepts of journalist, freedom of expression etc. Further the rights and duties of those using their freedom of expression will be discussed using the examples of existing case law of national and international courts. The course will also cover the new challenges created by the digital era (e.g., bloggers, intermediary liability and the right to be forgotten).

As a result of the educational process, to provide students with an understanding of the basics of systems analysis and the tasks to be performed by a systems analyst, in accordance with standard practice in the field of IT. Tasks. The systems analyst works in a team of software development and implementation projects, where his main task is to define the requirements for an IT solution based on an understanding of business objectives and processes. The systems analyst participates in the design of the IT solution, supports the development of the solution and participates in the further development of the solution. Before leaving for exchange studies, an application for studying abroad and a form regarding arrangements to complete Part A courses addressed to the dean and signed by the student and the programme director are submitted to the faculty coordinator. Based on this application, an order on studies abroad is prepared in the first two weeks of the semester. During the registration week, you must register in the LU information system (LUIS) for the next study semester, Part A study courses and course paper, if it is provided for according to the study plan. An order to extend the examination session is issued a few weeks before the session. Observe the deadlines for language test, midterm reports and other deadlines. If an emergency situation occurs, you must immediately inform the Department of Student Services, Mobility Division and the faculty coordinator. The aim of the study course is to provide high-quality research structure, methodology and theory analysis of doctoral dissertations by organizing colloquia of lecturers and students. Course tasks: 1. To present the analysis and findings of the theory analysis part of the doctoral thesis. 2. Participate in discussions and experience exchange. 3. To make improvement of the theory analysis part of doctoral thesis. Course is conducted in Latvian and English. The course lies in the doctoral study science module – Doctoral Thesis 1.
