Course
The course gives general insight into software development project automation tools, provides with information needed for development of qualification work both in computer programming and computer networks administration, as well as elements of technical writing and professional communication and fundamentals of innovation. The goal of the Qualification paper is to attest student's theoretical readiness and skills to implement theory into practice. The objective of qualification work is to create software product or perform administration work of a computer network structure, and to technically describe the performed practical work. The Qualification Paper is to be prepared according to the requirements set by the University of Latvia and the Faculty of Computing of the University of Latvia, and is to be defended at final examination. Majority of exam commissions must be professionals from ICT industry. Qualification paper shall be developed in Latvian or English.

The study course examines the sociolinguistic dynamics in Italy and the situation of the Italian language outside Italy. The aim of the course is to analyze the main aspects of language contacts, looking at it in a linguistic, political and historical context. Students will also be given an insight into the national language policy by analysing its impact in Italian bilingual regions. The objectives of the study course: 1. to reflect the language situation in Italy; 2. to study such theoretical concepts as language, dialect, multilingualism, bilingualism and diglossia; 3. to deepen the knowledge of linguistic and dialect diversity and the sociolinguistic situation in the country's bilingual areas; 4. to describe the situation of linguistic minorities, deepening the aspects related to minority. languages and the phenomenon of immigration; 5. to reflect the situation of the Italian language in the world. The course is delivered in Italian.

The aim of the course is to gain an in-depth understanding of discourse and its role in constructing the realities of society. During the course, students acquire practical skills in the application of discourse analysis, analyzing the use of language in the context of social, political, economic and cultural life. The course explores in depth the linguistic means of different discourses (media discourse, journalistic discourse, political discourse, advertising discourse, etc.). The objectives of the course. 1. to acquire basic knowledge about the role of language and discourse in constructing the reality of society; 2. to acquire basic knowledge of discourse and discourse analysis, as well as discourse analysis methodology; 3. to broaden the knowledge of Italian society, its political and cultural life, and the role of media in Italian society. The course is delivered in Italian.

The course deals with elements of mathematical logic and set theory, systems of linear equations, determinants and matrices, vectors, elements of differential geometry, basic concepts of function theory, limit theory, differential calculus and multivariable function differential calculus and integral calculus. The aim of the course is to create an idea of the application of mathematical methods in biology and allow creative application of mathematics in the specialty, and facilitate studies in other study-related and multidisciplinary sciences that use mathematical semantics and students' logical and abstract thinking. The objectives of the course are to promote basic knowledge in certain branches of mathematics, which can be used to mathematically correctly describe and solve practical problems, as well as to acquire basic skills in solving various standard mathematics problems. The aim of the course is to prepare students for work in a professional public relations environment. Tasks of the course: 1) to provide knowledge about the types of public relations texts; 2) to develop skills in creating public relations texts of different genres; 3) to develop skills in the analysis of the results of public texts. Language of course teaching - Latvian.

The course is designed as an introduction to the specific character of academic philosophy studies, and it helps to prepare for successful studies in the Bachelor of Philosophy Program at the University of Latvia. The aim of the course is to provide a general insight into the specific character of philosophy studies and the opportunities they provide. Tasks of the course: 1) to acquaint with the preconditions of successful studies, 2) to develop the skills of research work, 3) to acquaint with the basic principles of academic writing in philosophy. During the course, students will learn about the requirements for a research paper in philosophy, how to start researching the topic, where to find the necessary literature, how to structure research papers, which are the main genres of research work in academic philosophy, what are the requirements for research documentation and design, what is the academic style. The language of instruction is Latvian.

The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge of the Latin language necessary for carrying out the subsequent quality-oriented professional work, as well as the knowledge necessary for the understanding of medical terminology and professional medical literature. Objectives of the study course: 1. To offer the basic information about the grammar of the Latin language, as well as about the peculiarity of the professional medical Latin language; 2. To enhance the acquisition of the Latin medical terminology (both anatomical and clinical), as well as to improve the understanding of the development of this terminology; 3. To systematically develop the basic skills, which are necessary for the professional work, of the understanding of the medical Latin texts, as well as to enhance the ability to independently present the medical information in the Latin language (prescription, diagnosis, etc.). Course objective: To provide students with evidence- based information of nutrition science in the area of health-enhancing physical activity and sport, to develop analytical comprehension of the methods of obtaining and processing information. Tasks: 1) to provide insight into the physiological processes of the body in relation to exercise; 2) to extend knowledge about the role of macronutrients and micronutrients in the physiological functions of a physically active person; 3) to introduce the criteria for assessing field-sprcific information and to make recommendations on the choice of reliable, science-based information; 4) to present the latest sports nutrition trends; 5) to contribute to the identification of dietary problems through evaluation of the dietary habits of athletes; analyze and systematize potential solutions, integrating them in the preparation of dietary advice.
