In the 2017 simulation, the winners were University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law students Agnese Kapeniece and Kristers Losāns. In the judges’ evaluation, the Best Written Work was submitted by the runners-up – University of Latvia students Monta Krone, Kristiāna Bernāne, and Emīls Jonins. Monta Krone was also recognized as the Best Orator. Continuing the tradition, the finalists nominated the Best Judge – Kristīne Līcis, a representative of Latvia in international human rights institutions. Information about the students' achievements was published on the Ombudsman’s website.

On April 15, 2023 , the annual Professor Konstantīns Čakste Civil Law Moot Court concluded with its final round held at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia . The winning team was "Pāvila Peniķa advokātu birojs" , consisting of University of Latvia Faculty of Law (JF) Bachelor's students Marta Vīksna, Nikola Terēze Zvirbule, and Laura Ivonna Šteinberga . The title of Best Oralist among Bachelor's students was awarded to Roberts Gusts from the team "Kriptomafija" (LU JF), while among Master's students , the award went to Kristers Pētersons from the team "Vienā Laivā" (LU JF). According to the organizers, the award for Best Written Submission was given to the team "Kriptomafija" ( Gustavs Aleksandrs Klucis, Roberts Gusts, and Ksenija Levočkina – LU JF ).

This course is designed for 3rd and 4th year students. Background in political science (international relations) is desirable, but not mandatory. The main aim of the course is to improve students’ understanding about the concept of development, development cooperation and practical aspects of development cooperation policies both in Latvia and globally. The course consists of four main parts. The first part is built around the concept of development. This part will look into the place of development concept in the history of Western civilization and the philosophical meaning of development. Also, different interpretations of development (including its economic aspects) and criticisms against the idea of development and its practical implementation will be discussed in the first part of the course. The aim of this course is to teach students about the sources of tax law and laws about fees, the relevant concepts, basic principles, theories, subjects and objects, tax relations, and relevant legal regulations. A key element in the course is that students will learn about various aspects of budget laws and laws about budgeting procedures, promoting the acquisition of the necessary skills, knowledge and competences that are essential in today's labor market by developing critical thinking skills. The Faculty of Humanities cooperates with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia (implementation of study programmes, research, organization of school contests; members of the academic staff of the Faculty participate as experts in various work groups, boards, e.g., development of the contents of education, etc). Cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Latvia in project implementation (support for projects of State Culture Capital Foundation , prepared by the academic staff of the Faculty). Cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the sphere of language acquisition and other ministries. The Faculty closely cooperates with the Latvian National Library in the organization of events, popularizing of science, for instance, in the frames of Canada cultural studies, etc. There are other forms of cooperation, for instance, the members of academic staff and students of the Department of Latvian and Baltic Studies participate
Sport night tournaments

Four times a semester, UL students are offered the opportunity to participate in the Night Tournament, which usually takes place on Thursday evenings. During the semester, 4 types of Night tournaments are organized, in which volleyball, floorball, beach volleyball or football is played. About 3 weeks before each night tournament, information about the upcoming tournament is posted on the LU Sports Night Tournament Facebook page and the LU Sports page. Each Night tournament must be applied for separately, forming a team with fellow students and friends and filling in the tournament application form, which can be found in the description of each tournament. In tournaments, all teams play a group tournament at the beginning and then the strongest teams take part in the playoffs, fighting for cups, medals and various prizes. The University of Latvia Night Tournaments are available free of charge to all LU students and employees.

The aim of the course “Current Issues in Qualification of Criminal Offences” is to provide students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge on several important institutes of general and special parts of the criminal law: constituent elements of a criminal offence; separate types of criminal offences and their qualification in conjunction with stages of committing a criminal offence; participation of several persons in committing of a criminal offence and multiformity of criminal offences, thus ensuring a uniform understanding of criminal law and practice of its application Objectives of the course: 1)To exercise an enhanced learning of theoretical knowledge of criminal law on separate institutes of the general and special parts of the criminal law; 2)To analyse application of regulations of the law and theoretical insights in practice by ensuring the learning of practical skills; 3)To identify problematic issues in qualification of criminal offences and to search for choices
