What is the tuition fee and what does it cover? What are the other expenses?

The tuition fee for the 1 st year of studies is € 11262. The tuition fee for the further years of studies will be set in the study agreement. Tuition covers your studies and the use of resources provided by the university. Study books and lab coats are not included in your tuition fee but your professors will advise you on the necessary books and electronic resources, and many of them will also be available online. You should expect to pay the first half (€5119) of your first tuition fee installment in August before the start of studies to be registered and have access to all resources and studies. Students from outside the EU/EEA are expected to pay a €500 deposit along with the first semester payment upon arrival. The deposit is intended to cover possible immigration expenses and payed back upon request after graduation. There also is an application fee of €170,00, which includes the recognition of education documents by the Academic Information centre of Latvia.

In 2019, the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Willimantic (Connecticut, USA), in cooperation with „Friends of the University of Latvia” established a new scholarship to support theological and religious sciences at the University of Latvia (UL). Aim and tasks: to give an understanding of the content of financial analysis and the possibilities to apply digital technologies in the assessment of the financial condition and economic activity of companies, as well as in forecasting key indicators and data visualization (MS Office Excel, Power Pivot, Power Bi). It is planned to acquaint students with various methods and techniques of financial analysis, which is supplemented with the acquisition of practical skills in the calculation, analysis, evaluation and forecasting of various financial indicators using digital technologies. The tasks of the course are to explain the methodology of financial analysis; characterization of digital technologies and information sources used in financial analysis; getting acquainted with the methods and interpretation of financial indicators; analysis of company balance sheet and profit and loss statement with Ms. Office Excel and Excel Power Pivot.

Introduction to History of Diplomacy (1648 -1918)

The course deals with the main problems of diplomacy in Europe since The Thirty Years War till the end of the WWI and with the main problems in historiography, but also includes a short introduction into the history of diplomacy in ancient Greece, Roman Empire and Byzantium. The role of the diplomacy of Venice, Florence and Milan, as well as the quest for hegemony in Europe by Hapsburgs in 15 century receices its due, too. Course deals with the definition of diplomacy as a craft, art and science. Course covers the main problems of the history of diplomacy of France, Prussia, German Empire, Hapsburg's Empire (later - Austria, later - Austria - Hungary), Otoman Empire, Russia, USA. Students study the life of the greatest diplomats: Richelie, Talleyrand, Caslrey, Palmerston, Bismarck, Gorchakov, Grey, as well as the modern tendencies in the historiography.

The aim of the course “French” (for levels from 1 to 4) is to allow the students to acquire a sufficient level of French to communicate in ordinary situations of social and professional life. This set of these courses represents about 200 hours of teaching and corresponds to a half of the „Independent Speaker” level (“Treshold”) established by Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The goal of the course „French 1” is to provide the conversational French language skills for everyday and concrete professional situations, by acquiring reading and writing skills (learning pronunciation rules and the basics of the grammar) and by developing listening and speaking skills (understanding the lecturer and audio records, introducing him/herself and others, asking and answering simple questions). The various teaching methods that are used during the classes ensuring the perfection of the language skills.
