The purpose of the Master's thesis is to demonstrate the ability to apply theoretical knowledge, skills and abilities independently in accordance with the requirements of the professional Master's study program "Financial Economics". Master's thesis is an independent research work with original solution of a topical theoretical / practical problem under the guidance of a scientific supervisor. The Master's thesis has developed the investment project justification, analyzed the development tendencies of the branch, carried out the financial planning and evaluation of the project, thus facilitating the student's learning to maintain the problem solving motivation, creativity and preparing it for scientific research and doctoral study programs. Tasks of Master's thesis: 1. to summarize, systematize, deepen and consolidate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired, 2. make assumptions and formulate reasoned proposals, 3. to study regularities and learn to maintain motivation

The aim of the study course is to provide students with knowledge and to develop the skills in contact lens optical principles, manufacture and application, to provide knowledge about contact lens materials, designs, properties and to develop skills in contact lens correction principles.
The objectives of the study course are the following:
  • to provide knowledge about contact lens materials, types, designs and basic correction principles;
  • to provide skills on contact lens application, removal and cleaning procedures, as well as patient education in safe contact lens use;
  • to teach basic contact lens fitting principles and methods
  • to provide knowledge on the use of contact lenses in specific cases.
Languages of instruction are: Latvian and English.

Theoretical knowledge on model development principles, stages, methods for collecting and processing input data is supported by practical work, problem management and self-research. The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge and skills in the use of mathematical techniques in the modelling of processes in the environment. The aim of the course is to raise students' awareness of the implementation of the pre-school learning process and the role of the educator in it. Course tasks: 1. To identify the needs of the future teacher when starting work in pre-school. 2. To raise awareness of the pedagogical process in preschool, updating the role and self-growth of the teacher. 3. To identify accessibility of the support system in the work of a pre-school educator - further education, improvement of pedagogical activity and support of a mentor. 4. The aim of the study course is to give knowledge in psychophysics principles: Weber-Fechner and Stevens laws, modified staircase method, multiple random staircase method, trunched constant stimuli and signal detection methods.
The objectives of the study course are following:
  • to explain Weber-Fechner and Stevens laws in psychophysics;
  • to learn how to measure absolute and just noticeable threshold values with non-parametric adaptive and trunched constant stimuli methods;
  • to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills of signal detection method applications in optometry and vision science;
  • to acquire skills and knowledge that are applicable in students master paper.
