1. The House of Letters is the most ambitious investment in humanities and social sciences since the restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia. 2. The House of Letterswill unite faculties and institutes together, allowing students to expand their horizons and collaborate interdisciplinary, promoting the synergy of study and research directions and the emergence of new discoveries. 3. Study course "Entrepreneurship in practice I" will allow students to make a start up by themselves, giving a know-how, how to use their talents. The result of the study course "Entrepreneurship in practice I" will be a service/ a product or and idea made by the students. There are main defined goals for the study course: 1. To encourage young entrepreneurs to try their ideas in practice; 2. To develop competences and attitudes needed for entrepreneurship; 3. To foster synergy among students; 4. To introduce students with the environment of the entrepreneurship and to prepare them for real market situations.

The aim of the course is to promote the understanding of future teachers about the regularities of the learning process and the role of the teacher in planning, organizing and evaluating the results achieved. The tasks of the course are: 1. To acquaint students with the regularities of planning, organizing and managing the learning process; 2. To acquaint students with the conditions for the development of knowledge, skills and competences; 3. To promote the development of pedagogical competence so that students can use the acquired knowledge in practical work with students and help them to develop certain knowledge, skills and competences. The language of instruction is Latvian.

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and develop an understanding of the functioning of pelagic and benthic ecosystems, their role in ocean functioning and threats. Course tasks: • To promote understanding of the existence of organisms in difficult environmental conditions, in different ecosystems; • To improve students' skills in synthesis and evaluation of information on various ecosystem problems; • Pay special attention to the role of anthropogenic factor in ocean ecosystems; • To develop students' ability to independently search and analyze literature on peculiar and rarely-studied ecosystems and ocean problems. The study course is taught in Latvian and English.
