The aim of the course is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the nature of property law and its correlation with other instruments of property law, contract law and civil procedure. The course should provide students with knowledge on newest changes (during the last year) in the legal framework in relation to ownership rights, rights to another person's item (servitutes, real charges, pledge, option to purchase, construction rights); on judgements of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in relation to ownership rights analysing Article 1 of the First Protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, Judgements of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia evaluating compliance of separate regulatory enactments to Article 105 of the Constitution. The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge and skills in bioinformatics, after completing the course they will be familiar with the diversity of biological information, its extraction and analysis methods, and will also learn to explain the close relationship between bioinformatics and experimental biological sciences. The tasks of the course are to train students to independently navigate the genomics, transcriptomics and whole genome genotyping data of various organisms, understand the analysis of these data and use bioinformatics databases, acquire and visualize data, as well as work with a high-performance computing (HPC) server. Elza Liniņa (ISSP UL Laboratory of Organic Materials) speaks at scientific workshop of ISSP UL Doctoral School “Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies” on March 1, at 13:00, ISSP UL, Ķengaraga street 8, 2 nd floor hall. Optical frequency combs are one of the most accurate measuring instruments available today in high-resolution spectroscopy, allowing absolute frequency measurements over a wide range. The development of optical frequency combs is relatively recent - the first prototype was offered in the late 1990s and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2005 - but now optical frequency combs are commercially available. The aim of the seminar is to introduce students and other interested parties to the basic principles of optical frequency comb operation and possible applications in research.
