Master's Thesis II
Course
The aim of the master's thesis is to prove the ability to independently apply theoretical knowledge, academic skills and abilities in accordance with the requirements of the master's study program. Master's thesis is an independent research work with an original solution of a topical theoretical / practical problem under the guidance of a scientific supervisor. Tasks of master's thesis development: to summarize, systematize, deepen and strengthen the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills; to use empirical research methods in the research, in accordance with the research question and / or hypothesis, and the developed research design; to perform processing, analysis and interpretation of the obtained data. The Master's thesis has developed theoretical generalizations and formulated substantiated proposals, put forward and proved hypothesis, studied the regularities and correlations of factor influence, thus promoting the Master's student to learn to maintain problem

Introduction to geographic information technologies
Course
The course provides basic knowledge and basic skills in the main sub-sectors of Geographic Information Technology (GIS) - Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote sensing. The course is intended for students who have not yet completed a bachelor's degree in these sub-sectors of the GIT. The aim of the course is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for the successful acquisition of master's level courses, as well as for independent research work and successful final work. Course tasks: -to give knowledge about the application of GIS in geosciences, about the data to be used and the principles of data creation; -give knowledge of remote sensing methods as tools for obtaining up-to-date geographic data, available data and their properties, and image interpretation capabilities; - to identify the use of remote sensing data in the GIS environment and the possibilities of integration in the study of the territory and analysis of changes. Master's Thesis in Management II
Course
The purpose of the Master's thesis is to demonstrate the ability to apply theoretical knowledge, academic skills and abilities independently in accordance with the requirements of the Master's study programme. Master's thesis is an independent research work with original solution of a topical theoretical / practical problem under the guidance of a scientific supervisor. Tasks of Master's thesis: to summarize, systematize, deepen and consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills; to use empirical research methods in the research, according to the research question and / or hypothesis, and created research design; to process, analyze and interpret the obtained data. Theoretical generalizations are formulated in the Master's thesis, well-grounded proposals are formulated, hypotheses are raised and proved, correlations and regularities of factor influence are investigated, thus facilitating the student's learning to maintain problem solving motivation, creativity

Linear Algebra II
Course
The aim of this course is to continue acquainting the students with linear algebra, especially with widely applicable notions and results, to help acquire the ability to solve the corresponding numerical problems. The course tasks are: to gain deeper insight into linear operators, notions characterizing them (eigenvalues, eigenvectors and others, different types of operators: nilpotent, orthogonal, unitary, symmetric, Hermitian), to learn basic properties of quadratic forms (especially in the real and complex fields), Euclidean and unitary spaces, to learn the corresponding numerical algorithms, to get acquainted with types of matrices important in applications (those corresponding to the types of operators listed above, as well as with nonnegative, stochastic matrices), with different vector and matrix norms, to learn how to solve corresponding numerical problems. The acquired course material has wide applications in almost all fields of exact sciences including computing.

Game theory
Course
The goal of the course is to develop a skillset necessary to analyze and solve various problems in computer science, economics and other disciplines related to any kind of conflicts of interest. The objectives include: to outline the main ideas of game theory, emphasizing the theory's foundations and interpretations of its key concepts; to provide precise definitions and proofs of all results; to introduce methods and algorithms for solving games; to demonstrate how game theory methods can be used to solve practical problems in everyday life. Upon successful completion of this course, students will know the classification of games; master the basic principles of solving games; apply this knowledge to solve practical problems, including the analysis of economic systems; have a definite idea of rational behavior and of the formation of strategies in various situations. The course is held in English, with personal communication and possibility to do homeworks in English, Latvian
