On September 13, 2017, Microsoft Latvia in cooperation with the University of Latvia opened the University of Latvia Innovation Center LUMIC . This is the only Microsoft innovation center in the Baltics. It calls for gathering and cooperation between representatives of various industries, entrepreneurs, ICT professionals, public sector representatives, scientists, students and pupils to jointly create innovative solutions, promote digital transformation in Latvia and strengthen Riga's position as the center of the Baltic region and innovation city. The Innovation Center is accessible to anyone interested in innovation and technology. By developing and promoting various networks, the Innovation Center has become a local innovation platform and business center.

The University of Latvia pays great attention to the development of international collaboration in order to promote international identification, exchanges and to strengthen good reputation. The University of Latvia has been always active in international collaboration. Nowadays the objective is to focus on the content and quality in order to make internationalization a balanced element of education and research. Koris "DeCoro"

The Chamber Choir "DeCoro" of the University of Latvia was founded in 2007 by conductor Ainars Rubikis. Its members, aged between 18 and 40, are students and graduates of the University of Latvia and other universities. Currently the choir is led by conductors Peteris and Kristiana Vaickovski, with Janis Kursevs as choirmaster. The Chamber Choir "DeCoro" is dedicated not only to maintain the tradition of participating in the Nationwide Latvian Song and Dance Festival, and Baltic students' Song and Dance festival, but also to create original concert programs in collaboration with other professional artists. They have collaborated with Ugis Praulins, Jekabs Nimanis, and Matiss Cudars, Varis Pinkis, Ilze and Ieva Dzerve, Ugis Krisjanis, Atis Andersons and others. The choir has successfully participated in various international competitions in Poland, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, and beyond, impressing audiences with unique solo concert programs and internationally acclaimed

One of the institute's goals is to promote the growth of young scientists in the institute's specialized research areas. This goal is supported by the task of participating in the implementation of academic study programs (bachelor's, master's, postgraduate, and doctoral) at the University of Latvia and in the implementation of professional, continuing education, and lifelong learning programs. As part of the diploma program (professional program in medicine, bachelor's and master's programs in pharmacy, master's programs in biology and chemistry), as well as in postgraduate and professional medical residency programs, at the institute, students have the opportunity to work on a relevant thesis topic within their study program.
