Course
Course aim: provides opportunities for students to get acquainted with the most important peculiarities of medieval Latin, as well as with the beginnings and development of the Latin language tradition in Livonia. Lectures and text readings introduce the peculiarities of the Latin language in medieval chronicles, separate documentary sources, Western European Renaissance-based Riga humanist encomiastic poetry and occasional poetry, paying attention to the peculiarity of the Latin language in texts of certain periods, and to the reflection of the relevant period and cultural facts in texts. Tasks: 1) to provide knowledge about the changes that have taken place in the grammar and vocabulary of the Latin language, as the language continued to develop after the collapse of the Roman Empire; 2) to provide knowledge and understanding of the factors that have influenced the development of the Latin language through the centuries; 3) to acquaint with the most important Latin texts created

Due to its international dimension, Spanish is spoken on five continents and is the most widely spoken language in the world, after Chinese. The geographical distribution determines the specific characteristics of the language in each country. In Latin America, Spanish is the official language in 18 countries. This course provides an insight into the development of Spanish language variants, commonalities and differences of the Spanish language. It addresses such important issues as the unity and standardisation of language, language contacts and policy, the impact of migration processes and the linguistic situation. Latin America is characterised by linguistic diversity, determined by both historical and migratory aspects. The course will also focus on the topics of Aboriginal languages and cultures. The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge that would allow them to identify and distinguish between different variants and variations

Korean Language and Communication Culture I

The aim of the course is to provide students with the basics of standard Korean language and communication in accordance with the requirements of the A1 / 1 language level in the context of Korean culture, looking at the peculiarities of the Korean language in the linguistic aspect in comparison with the Indo-European languages, while also taking into consideration the most important features of the verbal and non-verbal communication accepted by the Korean culture. The objectives of the course are: 1) to teach the basics of Korean phonetics and spelling; 2) to teach the Korean alphabet - Hangul; 3) to introduce a few of the simplest grammatical structures of the Korean language; 4) to introduce the required collection of Korean words (at least 400) and expressions; 5) to acquaint with the main features of Korean phonetics, morphology, syntax and pronunciation compared to the Indo-European languages; 6) to acquaint with the most important rules of polite communication in Korean

The aim of the course is to strengthen theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Asian regions, languages and communication culture, to provide students with the opportunity to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge of different Asian regions, languages and cultures in a real workplace under the supervision of a specialist, describing the experience in an academic paper, as well as get acquainted with the projects, offers and foreign partnerships of a specific non-governmental organization, state, local government or company in the mentioned field. The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to learn to speak fluently in literary Turkish on the topic of travel, nature, Turkish geography, and cities, as well as to develop listening, reading and writing skills for the C1 level within this topic, taking into account the most important features of verbal and non-verbal communication accepted in Turkish culture. Course tasks are: 1) continue learning the phonetics, pronunciation and spelling of the literary Turkish language; 2) continue learning the morphology and syntax of the literary Turkish language; 3) supplement the vocabulary of the Turkish language (at least by 500 words); 4) continue to get acquainted with the norms of polite verbal and non-verbal communication in various communicative situations in the context of the Turkish cultural environment; 5) get acquainted with the Turkish perception of the world and recommended actions in certain communication situations, using examples from Turkish culture

The aim of the course is to strengthen students’ knowledge, communicative skills and competence in accordance with B1 level complying with the Common European Framework for Reference and provide basic knowledge about Swedish culture and history. The course acquaints students with the most important expressions of music and audiovisual media in the Baltic Sea region countries – Scandinavia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, slightly reaching also into Germany, Poland and Russia – their social significance in different periods of time, especially emphasizing the current (21st century) situation. The course offers grounds not only for an in-depth study of selected artistic phenomena of the Baltic Sea region but also for the presentation of the individual research. The aim of the course is to get acquainted with symbolically the most important expressions of the Baltic Sea region music and audiovisual arts and with their social significance. Public sector marketing methods are used, evaluation of development planning systems of different territorial scales is provided, and economic crisis management problems and solutions are characterized.
