The aim of the study course is to study the international financial spheres of international economic relations, with emphasis on the principles of financial management of the European Union and its role in ensuring the functioning of the EU and developing integration processes. Tasks of the course: - to characterize and analyze the existing international currency system; - to present the latest trends in international currency relations in the world; - examine in greater depth the role of international and national institutions in financial and monetary relations; - to analyze and evaluate the functioning of the European Monetary Union and monetary policy; - to examine and analyze the issues of the formation and use of the EU budget, problems of the use of financial resources in the implementation of the EU common policies, issues of tax harmonization. Action Plan, about the role of renewable energy sources in this plan and the success of CCFI (Climate Change Financial Instrument) projects concerning insulation of municipal buildings. Solar energy perspectives in Latvia were presented by Dzintars Jaunzems, Solar Energy Association of Latvia, Valdis Bisters, director of Climate Policy and Technologies Department (CCFI) at Ministry of Environment Protection and Regional Development, shared his experience with CCFI project calls, including support for solar energy usage for people. A brief lecture on solar energy in general was given by Pumpuri Secondary School students Ēriks Zvaigzne and Jānis Ķešāns, whereas Liepaja University students with Kristaps Daģis in forefront shared their experience in laminating and making big solar panels. Jānis Latvels, a doctoral student from ISSP UL, Laboratory of Organic Materials reported on “Organic solar elements – research, methods and applications”. Therefore we propose a project on the effect of different wavelength light on the folding of polystyrene sheets for light activated mechanical devices. This project would be the first activity in a longer collaboration between the two research institutions in the field of smart materials and bringing the 4D printing technology to Latvia. Main activities of the project: The synthesis and preparation of polystyrene sheets. This would take place in University of Bayreuth, Germany. The testing of effect of different wavelength light on the folding properties of polystyrene sheets. This would take place in the Institute of Solid State Physics in Riga, Latvia. The aim of the course is to provide information about constitutional foundation of the Latvian Sate and instruct students of the protection of fundamental rights in constitutional institutions of the Republic of Latvia. During lectures and seminars it has been planned to have also lectures/seminars outside of University by organizing excursions with a lecture and meeting persons in the same institutions, for ex. Constitutional Court, Saeima, Supreme Court. In spite the course has been dedicated to the issues of constitutional regulation of Latvia, it will combine also comparative aspect. In the course all actual and topical information of recent developments of the constitutional institutions and protection of fundamental rights will be presented.

The present study course is designed for the exchange students from abroad, who are studying at the UL, and have acquired Latvian language skills at B2 level. Objectives of the course include perfecting spoken and written language skills, extending knowledge in the sphere of morphology, syntax, lexis, phraseology, textology, style and language culture items of Latvian. The course envisages developing a comprehension about the language variants in written Latvian, as well as communicative, pragmatic and sociocultural language competence. The course has been developed in accordance with the set European Framework of Language ( C1, Vantage level requirements).

The aim of the course is to give students the opportunity to practice and improve their Korean language skills in order to be able to teach Korean in the future, as well as deepen their knowledge of Korean grammar, politeness and style system. The objectives of the course are: 1) to continue getting acquainted with the grammar of the Korean language, as well as the system of politeness forms and styles; 2) supplement the Korean language vocabulary (at least by 500 words) and the collection of phrases (on learned topics); 3) get acquainted with the vocabulary, phrases and speech style necessary for teaching Korean, or the language of classroom management; 4) develop skills for presenting in Korean.

The course has been designed for the needs of the administrative personnel who need to perform job-related tasks in English. Speaking and writing skill upgrading in the English language is aimed at the learners’ fluency and accuracy development in social and job-related communicative situations with international students, academic staff, administrative personnel and visitors. During the course, the learners receive the necessary support for the development of their telephoning, written communication (e.g. letters, e-mails), reading and listening skills. They consolidate their functional grammar knowledge and expand vocabulary. Learning materials and topics are tailored to the English language level of a particular group.
