The Master's study program in Environmental Science provides the highest academic Master's education in environmental science. It is an interdisciplinary science that integrates knowledge from natural and social sciences. The program offers modern theoretical and methodological expertise in the sub-branches of environmental science: nature protection, environmental management, environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, and environmental engineering. At the same time, it provides an overview of the industry's development, promoting the acquisition of practical skills necessary for the labour market. The study program is developed according to the development trends of environmental science and the recommendations of employers, students and graduates.

The House of Sports will have several multifunctional halls that can be used for different sports. Students and employees will also have access to a large swimming pool and gym, accessible sports laboratories and a research centre. The House of Sports will have: Three sports halls of different capacities; Aerobic halls; Dance hall; Sports laboratory; Swimming pools; Counter-current swimming pool; Family zone; Rehabilitation, physiotherapy and massage centre; Fitness hall; UL Sports history and achievements wall; 100 m running track and other common areas.

The University of Latvia Faculty of Chemistry was founded in 1919. Later, in 1958 it was incorporated into the Riga Polytechnic Institute (today – Riga Technical University). However, soon after, in 1964, the Faculty of Chemistry was re-established at the University of Latvia. The first dean of the newly established faculty was Gunārs Slaidiņš, who had only recently (1958) completed his studies at the Faculty of Chemistry of the State University of Latvia, and in 1961 – postgraduate studies in electrochemistry in Moscow. Initially, the Faculty of Chemistry had 2 chairs: the Chair of Organic and Physical Chemistry, headed by Assistant Professor Valdemārs Grīnšteins, and the Chair of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry headed by Assistant Professor Edgars Jansons. Already in the first year, the new faculty offered students both day and evening studies. The scholarship was established in 1999 by Guntis Bērziņš, a patron, professional engineer and public figure, in honour of his grandfather – the first elected rector of the University of Latvia (UL), Prof.Ernests Felsbergs (1922–1923). The aim of the scholarship is to support capable, diligent and socially active students of humanities at the University of Latvia. The aim of the study course is to provide the opportunity for doctoral candidates to develop competence in the supervision of the scientific works of students by acting as scientific supervision in the development of their field course`s and bachelor's final works, gaining the necessary experience for future academic activities. Course Tasks: 1. Supervise the development of courses and bachelor's works; 2. Review course and bachelor's works by preparing a written review and participating in a face-to-face defence procedure; 3. Provide an overview of the experience of managing and reviewing works. The course is taught in Latvian and English.
