Course
The aim of the study course is to acquire knowledge and skills to use the principles of visual methodologies & tools in the implementation of various projects, tasks and goals. The task of the course is to acquire knowledge of real-world creative concepts to be able to relate these to concept design - to apply its tools and methodology in the development of existing or new products, services, projects, study courses, and creative concepts. The ability to use the design process in the implementation of various projects increases their usefulness, efficiency and cost. The acquired principles of design thinking & visual research methodologies can be used both in the student's study process, in their professional work, and in private life. The language of instruction is English.

Course
The aim of the study course is to provide knowledge and skills on the principles of information systems development, functioning and management. The tasks of the course are to provide knowledge and skills on library, records and archives information systems using a variety of teaching methods. During the lectures students acquire knowledge about the meaning and functions of information systems in different information management institutions. Practical training and seminars develop skills in using library and archive information systems to manage library resources and records and archives. The acquired knowledge and skills can be used in memory institutions (libraries, archives), as well as in archiving records in institutions. Language of instruction - Latvian, English.

English for Communication in Arts
Course
The course aims at facilitating the students’ ability to communicate about the arts in English, engaging their interest in the arts and expanding their horizons in the humanities. The course covers those art categories which are not studied in other courses of the study programme. The objectives of the course are 1) to study the terminology pertaining to the visual arts, the performing arts, and architecture, 2) to use the arts as a tool to strengthen language integrated skills, fluency and accuracy in communication, 4) to be able to relate the acquired knowledge of the arts in the English-speaking world (the U.K. and the U.S.A.) which has an underlying impact on art history to different cultural contexts. The course is delivered in English.

Professional practice in Social Work III
Course
During the internship III, students deepen their knowledge and skills in social work with the case. During the internship, one case must be conducted in one of the institutions or organization of social service providers, following the theoretical guidelines of social work with the case and the stages of the process. The aim of the course is to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge in case work in social work. The task of the course is to practise in case work independently, to manage the process of one case, performing general agreement, evaluation, choosing the intervention approach, drawing up a plan, attracting appropriate specialists or services, evaluation, as well as participating in social services organization team meetings and supervision.

The goal of the course is to provide integrated acquisition of the theoretical, practical and research skills, promoting the development of English language skills while studying the most important historical, geographical and cultural issues in Britain, thus enabling students to comprehend the main historical and cultural processes in Britain. Tasks: 1. To get insight into historical and cultural issues in Britain from antiquity till the present times acquiring the appropriate vocabulary. 2. To develop English language competence. 3. To develop critical and creative thinking skills; 4. To stimulate the analytical, research, and presentation skills, practicing English language.

The aim of the course is to provide the opportunity for students to study logistics and supply chain concepts and their management as well as to provide the knowledge about the risk management and information integration in supply chain. Tasks: 1. learn and understand the concepts of logistics and supply chain, 2. learn tactical and strategic planning and modelling of supply chain, 3. understand expenditure management in supply chain and inventory management, 4. learn the design problems of transportation’s logistics systems in supply chain, 5. learn and understand the risk management in supply chain, 6. acquire and understand the information integration in supply chain. Secure System Modelling
Course
Course goal: This course will provide students an overview of the principles for secure system design. Course tasks: The participants will learn what security risk management is, and how to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of protected assets. The course will also analyse how to engineer and model security requirements, what are the major security controls. The course includes the overview of the principles for the model driven security. A number of lectures will be given to understand what are the principles of security development processes and what the security patterns are. During the practical seminars, there will be a number of exercises, concentrating on the deepening the theoretical knowledge given during the lectures. The language of instruction is English.

Practical Museology
Course
The aim of the course is to improve and expand students' knowledge and skills in historical and archaeological research by enabling them to study in depth the key elements of the work of the museum. The course is implemented in cooperation with national history profile museums in Latvia. Course Tasks: 1) to develop an in-depth understanding of the work of museums, the stages of works, their tasks; 2) to develop an in-depth understanding regarding the documentation of objects of the museum stock; 3) to develop skills in the professional activity of musical activities; 4) to develop skills for the practical application of museum stocks in research and work with the public (establishment of a pedagogical programme of museums). The course is written in Latvian.

Fuzzy Sets and Structures

The course deals with fuzzy sets, operations with fuzzy sets, fuzzy relations, fuzzy numbers, algebraic operations with fuzzy numbers, T-norms, T-conorms, residua, fuzzy logics, extensional sets and models based on fuzzy logic. The aim of the course is to give students a good knowledge of the basic concepts and results of fuzzy set theory, as well as fuzzy logics and models based on them. The objective of the course is to acquire the basic concepts and basic results of fuzzy set theory, fuzzy logic models, to develop skills to apply the results of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic models in solving practical tasks. The course will be taught in Latvian.

Climate change mitigation and adaptation governance
Course
and distinct features of their application; to analyse the CCMAG instruments and policy measures/actions implemented and planned in Latvia at the national and local government level (both their content and implementation practices); to describe the inter-sectoral integration of Latvia’s climate policy and the linkage with the development and introduction of a circular economy. The course consists of three parts, each of then includes the students’ practical work: (1) Nature science research studies and argumentation for climate change mitigation and adaptation, (2) Climate change governance cycle, application of collaborative governance approach. Communication of climate change and of climate change mitigation and adaptation governance, (3) Greenhouse gases emissions and the governance (policy approaches, policy instruments and measures/actions) of their reduction in the different sectors of economy. The course develops students’ ability to efficiently use the acquired set of knowledge
