The mission of the Institute for Mechanics of Materials of the University of Latvia (IMMUL) is internationally competitive high-quality scientific research in mechanics of materials, structural mechanics and material sciences, including the use of skills acquired in the fields of mechanics of polymers and related fields of science, as well as in all-level student training, and in the innovation and technology transfer provided on scientific basis. This year the Faculty of Business, Management and Economicsis starting the conference with a plenary session „Economics Management Demography” and offers fourteen sessions and one international session “Impact of globalization to national economies and business” for presenting and discussing of research results as well as getting acquainted with work results of other researchers. If you are interested in chemistry, its role in everyday life, professional growth in the chemical industry and study opportunities, you simply must attend the classes of the School of Young Chemists (SYC) at the University of Latvia Faculty of Chemistry. These classes take place in Riga and more than 10 other cities of Latvia. Year on year, the SYC classes are gaining increased popularity amongst the secondary school students, and every year more than 250 motivated pupils take part in them. The purpose of SYC is to promote interest and motivation to study chemistry and other natural sciences. Pupils have the opportunity to deepen and expand the knowledge and skills of chemistry acquired at school, as well as to improve their research, collaboration, communication and IT skills. The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTO) of the University of Latvia (UL) is organizing a series of online workshops on copyright and intellectual property protection for UL researchers and doctoral students. We are also implementing a procedure for registering know-how and providing global protection, therefore, researchers in the humanities and social sciences are particularly encouraged to grasp their new opportunities and challenges. Format: free meeting in MS Teams environment - stories, questions and answers, and discussions, with a total duration of 40-45 minutes, once or twice a month. The planned number of workshops: 6 times, though it may vary depending on the expressed interest and the volume of possible questions and discussions. Participation in every workshop is free. Post-Soviet studies represent an interdisciplinary scientific field exploring the characteristics pertaining to the social, economic and political development of the countries of the former Soviet Union and their international relations. Despite the different history of Latvia and the other Baltic states and their membership in the EU and NATO, the Baltic states are also part of the post-Soviet space and their development prospects are to a significant extent linked to the post-Soviet heritage and overcoming it.
