" received special motivation awards. Congratulations to all 14 teams that participated in this year's Student Deep Science Hackathon! The international hackathon "Student Deep Science Hackathon" was organized as a workshop for creating and developing new innovative ideas, intended for students and senior students who want to form interdisciplinary teams with innovation potential and create interesting ideas in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. During the hackathon, participants were provided with the support of professional mentors, a co-working environment and information for commercialization steps. The hackathon was organized by the LU CFI and the LU CFI Foundation in cooperation with the LU Student Council and the youth organization "The Raccoons". The event was supported by project No 1.1.1.3/18/A/007, "University of Latvia Innovation Grants for Students" activities.

Established in 2021 as part of the Students’ Council, the University of Latvia International Students’ Collegium (UL ISC) is an elected student body aiming to represent and integrate students studying in the international programmes at UL. The main focus of UL ISC is to: approach various academic affairs, organize events during the orientation period and throughout the semester, facilitate communication between the university and the students. The Student Union of Latvia has developed a student housing guide to help incoming international students find a suitable and comfortable place to live when starting their studies in Riga. In consultation with international students, it was concluded that moving to a new city can be a great challenge if the possibilities of local housing and the procedures for obtaining it are not known. The purpose of this guide is to provide clear and accessible information on different housing choices, including dormitories, apartments and shared accommodation. The guide focuses on recommendatory guidance when renting a home, which is the so-called part of the process to pay special attention to. More information

University of Latvia Student Council's Social programme for the tenants of residence halls

University of Latvia Student Council (ULSC) in cooperation with University of LatviaInfrastructure Department implements the Social Programme, created to assist thosestudents of the UL who require social support. This is an opportunity for the Universityof Latvia students to apply for up to 50% discount from their rental fees for lodging inthe UL residence hall.To apply for a discount for a period of one semester, the student must be enrolled infull time bachelor's or master's studies at the UL and be in need of financial support.Application to the programme is open twice a year – before the beginning of the autumnsemester, when the graduates leave the residence halls and the first year students settle in,and before the beginning of the spring semester. Overall, the programme can assist up to10% of all the students living in the UL halls of residence, and after the applicants submit the documents supporting their need their applications are revised by the programme commission
