The development of integrated study and training programmes for students will ensure competitive results and the graduates will better satisfy the national economy demands. The aim of the course is to provide an in-depth knowledge of the latest trends in specialised social science research methods, in line with the doctoral student’s field, specialisation and design of the doctoral thesis, by improving cross-disciplinary awareness and knowledge of more sophisticated social science research methods, as well as skills and competence for independent research and critical evaluation of the research quality. The aim of the course is to ensure an in-depth knowledge of highly specialised and innovative social science research methods, to develop the skills and competence, and to provide an in-depth insight into the less frequently used tools in Latvia (NVivo, R, Python, GIS, Gephi, Ucinet, etc.). . The participants of the summer school are students and teachers of various universities, as well as enthusiasts and representatives of the diaspora. Scholarship holders of the State Education Development Agency also participate in the summer school. Once a year, the State Education Development Agency announces applications for financial support for the organization of summer schools.
