Course
The aim of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge of the concepts and theories of social work that form the basis of social work with the community. Course tasks: 1. To provide insight into theories and methods of social work community. 2. To update the needs of the population and groups of the community by analyzing the political, socio-economic and cultural factors in the community. 3. To set out the policy for the provision of services and programs according to the needs of the population of the community. 4. To acquaint with the legal regulation of the NGO sector, associations and organizations, social entrepreneurship in Latvia. 5. To promote the formation of awareness about the participation of the community society in the awareness, use and development of community resources, the course including seminars, discussions and practical tasks. The course is lead in Latvian.

Clinical pharmacology and medical care
Course
The aim of the course is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and skills about medical care. Course tasks: 1) To look at medical care at the age of a child; 2) To develop an understanding of the principles of drug therapy and care for patients of general medicine and surgery in care; 3) To develop the ability to perform medical care. 4) Understand the individual approach to the use of medication, depending on the patient's state of health, previous experience, age, special conditions and habits (pregnancy, breastfeeding, dietary characteristics, harmful habits, etc.). 5) be able to analyze the positive and negative effects of drugs on the body in real clinical situations, to anticipate the patient's problems related to the use of drugs. The course is taught in Latvian and English

Internal medicine II
Course
The course consists of 3 parts - endocrinology, hematology and musculoskeletal system. Course objectives: 1) To provide students with basic knowledge of the human endocrine system and its pathological conditions, about blood, blood-forming organs and lymphatic system, as well as diseases related to these organs, with particular emphasis on the risks of infection and bleeding. 2) To provide basic knowledge of musculoskeletal diseases of the system and risk of occupational diseases in dentistry. Course tasks: 1) View the most common pathological disorders of the endocrine, haematopoietic and musculoskeletal system conditions and understand their role in the care of the patient in the general dentistry. 2) Analyse the importance of musculoskeletal diseases in the day-to-day work of a dentist. The course is implemented in English.

Introduction to the Studies of Educational Sciences
Course
In the course students will learn the main basic concepts, the main pedagogical regularities and basic principles in educational sciences and their sub-sectors. The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies necessary for successful master's studies in educational sciences. Tasks - 1. To master the basic concepts used in educational sciences, to understand the main pedagogical regularities and basic principles; 2. To improve academic reading and writing skills; 3. To improve communicative skills in the academic environment; 4. To improve the competence to act ethically and responsibly in the academic environment; 5. To create an opportunity to reflect on one's learning process and achieved results, directing the further development of one's knowledge, skills and competences.
The language of instruction is Latvian.

Interstellar Medium
Course
Important processes, such as radiation transfer, formation of stars, and others occur in in the interstellar medium. Therefore, knowledge on interstellar medium is essential for understanding what shapes the Universe as we see it. The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic aspects of interstellar medium, as well as the physical phenomena governing large-scale (nebulae) and small-scale (atoms) processes in the interstellar medium. Tasks: learn the main atomic and molecular processes in the interstellar medium; understand the constituent phases of galactic medium; characterize the formation of stars and their effects on the stellar environs; solve quantum physics problems for characterizing macroscopic interstellar objects and vice versa; quantify macroscopic effects in the interstellar medium. Language of instruction is Latvian.

Advanced Studies in Korean Language and Communication Culture I
Course
The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire Korean language listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, approaching the requirements of the C1-1 language level within the topics covered and taking into account the peculiarities of the Korean cultural environment. The objectives of the course are: 1) to continue to get acquainted with the grammar, morphology, syntax and stylistics of the Korean language; 2) to supplement the Korean language word (by at least 500 words) and phrase collection (on the acquired topics); 3) to develop basic skills for expressing and defending one's opinion on complex topics in Korean; 4) to get acquainted with the scientific and journalistic writing style of the Korean language. The course is taught in English, Korean and Latvian.
