The aim of the course is to transfer knowledge, competences and skills how we can sociologically perceive, interpret, analyze and apply theoretical approaches, methodological principles and diverse empirical material of environmental sociology and sociology of natural resources on certain environmental problems, thus fully discovering the sociological dimension in physical reality of environment. Tasks necessary to achieve the goal are to acquaint with theoretical, methodological and empirical approaches of environmental sociology and sociology of natural resources, formation of discipline of environmental sociology, relations between environmental sociology and natural resource sociology, their place and inclusion among other social sciences and science in general. Substantial part of course is envisaged for seminars and independent applied paper, where students argues of privileges of field and offers its critique. Language: Latvian

During the course the following tasks are accomplished: - Understanding the foundations of human resource (HR) management strategies - Definition and overview of the approaches and methods of the core HRM functions – resourcing, performance management, reward management, personnel development and growth, employment relations - Comprehension of employee motivation and engagement theories - Understanding of the role of the leader - To navigate the leadership competences and styles, their development - Analyse the situation in the organisation and apply appropriate change management models - Manage the organisational communication tools The content of the course provides students to learn people and change management methods and tools, understanding its theoretical foundation and practical application.

The study course is designed to promote the diverse use of data in geography, strengthening theoretical and practical application in the labour market. The course provides an overview and understanding of the diversity of quantitative data in geography, their management and application in the labour market. The course provides students with the skills necessary for the selection, processing, systematization and visualization of spatial data of social and physical processes. The course provides knowledge about data that can be used for geographic visualization. The aim of the study course is to ensure the systematic acquisition of competences in the use of data in geography, their application in practice. Tasks of the study course: (1) promote the integration of natural sciences and information technology competencies; (2) to build a scientific and practical understanding of the importance of data in various branches of geography, their application and current directions

The aim of the course is to promote students abilities to professionally depict nature motives using various technical solutions, including, graphic design tasks, as well as, promote an ability to professionally justify the formulation of work’s task and realise the creative idea by utilising opportunities provided by computers and other technologies. Course tasks – draw, paint and to take photos in open-air conditions, analyse the motives of the portrayable surrounding nature, study the basic principles of landscape genre and realism documentation; analyse the regularities of creating an open-air image, solve colour proportions, lines and textures, master the skills used in plein air, sketch drafts, crate long term works, gather materials for composition, to format and present the accomplished works. The language of instruction is Latvian.

Learn an audience analysis from the perspective of individuals' motivation, perceptions and social interaction. Using theoretical knowledge, analyse the specificities of perception processes and how they can create an advertising message and understand the social and ethical aspects of advertising activity. Study-course tasks: presenting the methods and results of various psychology studies in the advertising field, taking into account the changes in advertising activity related to digitisation and media development, describing mechanisms and their effectiveness, promoting the development of presentation skills, and enabling an in-depth understanding of the impact of advertising on culture, its potential opportunity

Introduction into Professional activity

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the process of creating design projects, as well as, the correlation between creative and technological processes. The course also examines a designers place in a creative team, the influence of the various stages of production on the final product. Study course tasks: 1. Create an understanding about the visually stylistic and technical process of creating graphic design works. 2. To develop a skill to adequately choose the right visually stylistic solution, digital tools and technological realisation to successfully complete the creative task (matching its group, character, size and other parameters). 3. To develop a skill to use digital tools for fulfilling graphic design tasks and to technologically correctly prepare the developed product for realising it materially.

Forensic psychiatry is a branch of psychiatry that deals with important issues in the field of law - criminal and civil proceedings. The aim of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge about general psychopathology (various symptoms of mental disorders) in the context of situations important in criminal or civil proceedings and the recognition of these disorders. 1. To acquaint with normative acts related to forensic psychiatry, forensic psychiatric examination, protection of mentally ill persons and integration into society. 2. To promote the understanding of penitentiary psychiatry, as well as about the problems of social significance related to persons with mental disorders 3. Explain the understanding of the types of expertise and their adequate choice depending on the specific legal situation. 4. To promote understanding of the methods of application of coercive measures of a medical nature, criteria for their amendment or abolition. The course

The aim of the study course is to promote the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and the development of competencies for modern, purposeful and rational planning and organization of the mathematics study process in primary education and general secondary school / gymnasium. Course tasks: 1) To create an opportunity to gain an understanding of the conceptual principles, goals, normative documents and approaches of modern science and mathematics education in its implementation; 2) To create an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the system of forms and methods of planning and organizing the mathematics study process, in accordance with the planned result, teaching and learning styles, to gain insight into the possibilities of using information technology and other technical means in organizing the mathematics study process; 3) To create an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills about the system of assessment of students' results and the system of methods in mathematics.
