University of Latvia Campus future vizualization Health is the basis and prerequisite for the development of society and the country. The UL House of Health project envisages the creation of a study, science and research base in the field of outpatient services, which will create a synergy of treatment, pedagogy and science and promote the development of new treatment technologies. The House of Health will have a social paediatrics centre, a centre of competence/excellence for general practitioners and a centre for sports science and medicine. The health centre will provide services to 28,000 clients - UL students and staff, and residents of the Torņakalns neighbourhood.The University will inform the public as soon as a decision is made on the implementation of this project.

Since 2012, the Department of Physics has been organising the regional stage of the National Physics Olympiad online, preparing the tasks in Moodle. This provides the opportunity to receive quick feedback on the Olympiad immediately after the Olympiad, to ask questions and receive answers from the organisers in the forum, and to use the tasks from previous years in preparation for the Physics Olympiads. In order to be able to present the work of the Department of Physics staff and students in the Physics Olympiads movement to international partners in physics education, the Department of Physics has created a set of interactive Physics Olympiad exercises in English, available at: ej.uz/physicsolympiad_demo .
In 2022, the XXIV Prof. K. Dišlers Moot Court Competition was won by the team "VINCIT QUE SE VINCIT" from the University of Latvia's Faculty of Law, consisting of Bachelor's program students Andīna Brīvule, Kristīne Ilga Budkēviča, and Raivo Bunde , coached by Katrīna Salmgrieze . The Best Oralist in both the final and preliminary rounds was awarded to Rebeka Laveniece , a Master's student at the University of Latvia's Faculty of Law, from the team "Pēdējais brīdis." The Best Written Submission award, as judged by the panel, was given to the Master's program team "Pēdējais brīdis" from the University of Latvia's Faculty of Law, consisting of Dāvis Gertmans, Rebeka Laveniece, and Ksenija Koleda , coached by Linda Raubenheimere . The title of Best Judge in the 2022 competition was awarded to PhD. Prof. Ineta Ziemele, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union .

Immediately after the founding of the Higher School of Latvia (later the University of Latvia) in 1919, the Minister of Education K. Kasparsons asked a group of Latvian doctors to attend to the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine. A subcommittee was set up on 28 August, 1919 for that purpose. It was concluded that senior students would be able to acquire clinical knowledge in hospitals,but there was no no premises, equipment, nor for teaching theoretical subjects for 1st and 2nd year students. Deciding on the necessity to establish FM, the subcommittee took great responsibility. It was decided that lecturers should be recruited from the midst of Latvian specialists, and only in those disciplines where there were no Latvians, specialists were invited from abroad. The core of FM was formed, and E. Zariņš was elected as a Temporary Dean. On September 11, 1919, the first official meeting of the FM Dean's Office took place. On September 13, 2017, Microsoft Latvia in cooperation with the University of Latvia opened the University of Latvia Innovation Center LUMIC . This is the only Microsoft innovation center in the Baltics. It calls for gathering and cooperation between representatives of various industries, entrepreneurs, ICT professionals, public sector representatives, scientists, students and pupils to jointly create innovative solutions, promote digital transformation in Latvia and strengthen Riga's position as the center of the Baltic region and innovation city.
