Theory and practice trends in family and inheritance law
Course
The course is intended for master's students as an in-depth insight into family and inheritance law, theory and practice trends and developments. The AIM of the course is the qualitative combination of knowledge, skills and competence of family and inheritance law. The TASK of the course is to comprehensively acquire the laws and regulations governing legal relationships regarding family and inheritance, with an emphasis on the Civil Law of the Republic of Latvia, Notariate law and the relevant European Union laws and regulations, the latest trends and theories in the field of family law and inheritance law, current issues of practice, juxtaposition of practice and theory, the most complicated matter in-depth analysis. The language of instruction is Latvian.

Animal Evolution
Course
The purpose of the course is to give the general knowledge on new achievements and modern problems of evolution of animal. To show ways and directions of evolution, using data of zoology, genetics and molecular biology. Course Tasks: - Developing students’ integrated thinking in understanding and evaluating animal evolution; - Developing students ' ability to find the link between hypothesis, prediction and experiment, and interpret the results - Improving students' skills to use theoretical and methodical knowledge in their future scientific and practical work, as well as animal conservation policy. The course deals with the basics, causes, mechanisms and regularities of animal evolution. The course focuses on the application of varies methods in the study of animal evolution, deepens the students’ point of view and give them a scheme of how to detect changes in the theory of evolution in future and use them in their practical activities. The language of instruction is Latvian.

Geology studies take place in the UL Academic Centre, where students have access to modern classrooms, laboratories and equipment. Geology cannot be studied only indoors, so students participate in several field courses in Latvia, Estonia and Poland. Students carry out independent research, the results of which are presented in coursework and a bachelor thesis. During their studies, they have the opportunity to study abroad as part of the Erasmus+ student exchange programme.

The aim of the program is to provide master's studies in project management relevant to the development of the national economy, promoting the competitiveness of highly qualified project managers in both the Latvian and European labor markets. Graduates of the program acquire professional competence in all areas of project management during their studies according to international project management standards (PMI, PRINCE 2, IPMA). Students have the opportunity to participate in a cooperation project with the Dortmund University (Germany), which provides the opportunity to obtain a master's degree in project management at the Dortmund University in addition to the diploma of the University of Latvia.
