The aim of the course is to present the general fire safety regulations of the Republic of Latvia and the fire safety requirements that natural and legal persons must comply with in public and economic activity facilities in order to prevent fire risks, ensure the evacuation of people in the event of fire, as well as reduce the spread of dangerous factors through enclosing buildings, and create conditions for the successful extinguishing of fire, before or after arrival of the State Fire. The aim of the course is to present the cultural history of the Baltics in context of the cultural history of Europe and the world and its major historical turning points from the Middle Ages till nowadays. The course examines cultural and historical heritage of the Baltic as well as the overall context of European and global history. It describes traditional and modern, rural and urban cultures, with a special focus on their multicultural dimension, as well as the general European context, with an emphasis on the development of ideas in the Baltic Sea Region. The students learn of the influence of different schools of historiography on the interpretation of Baltic history. Organic Synthesis III
Course

The aim of the study course is to educate students about the basic principles of synthesis planning (including the use of electronic databases) and retrosynthetic analysis. The most important methods of contemporary asymmetric synthesis will be surveyed with an emphasis on reaction mechanisms. Teaching process will involve learning the theory at lectures, followed by analysis of representative total synthesis of natural products at seminars.

The tasks of the study course:

  • to master the basic principles of synthesis planning (including the use of electronic databases) and retrosynthetic analysis;
  • to develop skills in planning of synthesis of complicated organic molecules.
  The language of instruction is Latvian and English.

The course aim is to introduce the tools of Social and Cultural Planning to foster and strengthen communities by social and cultural interventions. The course tasks is to introduce with history of social and cultural planning, principles, tools, modern community work, as well as with community planning initiatives in Latvia. The special focus is on participatory approach, covering all stakeholders and promoting social and cultural inclusiveness. This course wants to showcase the practical applicability for social and cultural planning, to illuminate some of the efforts that have been made, to represent the main methods and tools that have been used and to introduce the most relevant actors of this process.
